07 240 Swim Deck - New to Forum

Post by bgack999 »

I'm sure a silly question, but new to the Cobalt and this boat - what is the "official" use of the compartment - my kid wanted to know, so I told him I think its another cooler ?!?

I really like what you’ve done with the SeaDek and the boat name. I’ve always wondered where a boat name would fit on our boat.

That compartment is kind of like an appendix in humans. It is storage for the boarding ladder for boats without the extended swim platform. I can’t imagine our boat without the extended swim platform.

We found that this compartment really didn’t drain well and would get kinda nasty. Eventually I found out that the drain hose from this compartment to a hull fitting had a low spot. It wasn’t going to be easy to fix this drainage issue so I removed the hose from the hull fitting, capped the hull fitting, and let the hose drain into the bilge.

Don’t get me started on the “wakeboard storage” compartment.

Well thanks for the info..! never would have guessed it was ladder storage - and right, can't see too many people ordering one without the swim platform - - we really just throw some drinks and ice in there - but haven't noticed any drainage issues just yet -

yes, we just added "Hydrodeck" - an equivalent to SeaDek - surprisingly I could not find a SeaDek installer in my area - totally changed the look of the boat -

- it's a small spot - but a boat name fits well there....
