8.1GXi-e flush adapter

Can i run the engine while supplying it with water via the blue hose connector on the front starboard side of the engine? Normally i’d say no issue, but the service manual states that the GXi-A cant be run this way as water is not supplied to the raw water pump. The manual says nothing of the GXi-E.
So is it a flush only fitting, or a run the engine on the hose fitting?

I have the B and have always ran it on that. Good info though.

I have a 2002 8.1L Gi. I have a hose on the port side of my motor with a removable cap to flush out the motor. I've read the same as the original poster, do not run the motor while flushing. I tried flushing using muffs but was not getting any water out the exhaust...
