Boat Scratches
Boat Scratches
Got a rather simple question, but it relates to scratches on used Cobalts I’m looking at. I haven’t had fiberglass in 40 years. Are minor scratches on the hull normal, and maybe unavoidable? We’re in a fairly clean water lake, but with many creeks flowing into it we do have occasional flotsam and debris on the surface. I don’t want to miss a good boat by looking for Perfection. And is there any way to polish or treat those to make them go away?

Re: Boat Scratches
Yea you can polish scratches or of gel coat as long as it's not too deep. It's pretty forgiving. Plenty of vids on here about buffing and polishing.

And if deeper, I use "Gel Coat Scratch Patch."

Watch Drakes Detailing on utube and follow the directions explicitly. I did that on my 2007 222 and all I can say is WOW!! But, a lot of work to get the WOW factor.
