Volvo 380 lifter noise
I have a 2015 302 with twin 380's. 262 hrs on them. Recently noticed the starboard engine running a little rough and with the engine hatch up hear a lifter ticking sound. We don't hear or notice anything on the portside engine. Has anyone ever heard of lifter issues with these engines? Thank you

Re: Volvo 380 lifter noise
Not sure if it relates or if the lifters are the same, but GM has had tons of lifter issues over the last several years in their 5.3 and 6.2 engines.

Re: Volvo 380 lifter noise
The GM lifter issues are part of the DOD (Displacement on Demand) system . The lifter seizes in the bore and the engine ticks. After long enough the lifter wipes out the intake lobe on the camshaft . Usually the #7 cylinder. The marine engines do not have these DOD systems. Thank God.
