Power Steering Question

Post by DFWdude »

With the engine off, should I be able to muscle the outdrive left & right? I cant be sure, but I thought that I used to be able to do this and upon just trying it wouldn’t budge.

Thanks

Yes, just harder to turn without the PS.

I gave it all I had today, and it wouldn't budge but an inch or so. Would this indicate a frozen steering cable?

Are you trying to move the outdrive or turn the steering wheel? Hard, almost not possible to move the outdrive itself - nothing physical preventing it, it's just the leverage of trying to move the drive vs turning the wheel.

Move the drive, literally. Not using the steering wheel
