I’m stuck slightly in the past. I love the grunge era. I love the Seattle bands, with my all time favorite being Alice In Chains. I’m a huge fan of Jerry Cantrell, whether with Layne, and now William DuVall. Add Godsmack to that mix.
I’d say for the past 10-15 years, the only “current” groups that interests me is Tool, AIC, and A Perfect Circle.
Tool is an acquired taste, but when understanding their music, it’s not a song, it’s more musical art.

The song "Rooster" is a classic written by Jerry Jr. about his dad (nicknamed Rooster in the Army) & the horrors that Sr. experienced while fighting in the Vietnam war.
It's some very raw & powerful grunge rock...

(As a side note, I can't imagine being spit on by my country after returning from the fight. I thank those guys every chance I get when I see them. They paved the way for my generation who is much more appreciated by the public when we return from the battle front because of what 'Nam era soldiers went thru. We may not support the war...but we support the troops. Thank you Rooster.)

S.R.V. reinvented electric blues. If only he didn't take the last remaining seat on the chopper that crashed. His music lives on...

I mostly listen to late 60s through 80s pop/rock. Lately I've been playing more Neil Young, but usually in the car or on my little speakers attached to the living room tv system (using home-built Zaph audio SR71 speakers and a Denon receiver). The better stuff is in the unfinished home theater corner of the basement, but doesn't get used as often.

I think the term/song name "Rooster" came from what the N. Vietnamese called the 101st. They have the Bald Eagle sleeve patch as their symbol, and the NV called it/them "roosters".
