Re: 226 vs newer cobalt
I have a 2015, which is the same boat as they sold in 2009 except for some of the options like electronics and seagrass carpets. I'm changing out the stereo stuff anyway, so that's not a big deal, and the rest of the boat still looks pretty new. I do like the styling of the 210 more than the ...

Re: Mooring cover, Malibu parts
I finally ordered one from Malibu/ Commercial sewing. It took awhile to arrive but I got it. About 1450$ for my 220S. I only test fitted it in the storage unit but I think it is going to be a winner. It has the venturi vents on top that should suck down the cover while trailering. Another much ...

Re: Mooring cover, Malibu parts
I'm definitely going to check these Commercial sewing/ Malibalt covers out. I tried the cheapskate route and bought a Seal Skin online. The advertising says it will fit my boat. Was very disappointed, looks like it was made to fit A boat, just not mine. Appears to be a general V bottom 22-23 foot ...

Re: Impeller Issues
While on the impeller subject but not destroyed subject, be very observant when changing your impeller as the last time I changed mine for routine maintenance, (yes I used a genuine VP part) it had the wrong O ring in the kit. After installation I noticed the bilge collecting some water. Closer ...

Re: Oil Change Save some Money
I figure that the extra 20 bucks for the volvo oil over something else is well worth it. I'm only changing once a year, so 20 dollars extra a year is nothing considering I have 50,000 dollar boat. Same goes for non-ethanol fuel, I'm only burning a 100 -150 gallons a year so saving a buck more a ...

Re: Fuel efficiency (MPG)
Since we all agree that boats require a lot of fuel burn, the question for me would be ride quality. The Cobalt can be trimmed up out of the water making for a better ride. I have friends with ski/ surf boats , inboard powered who do not go any distance because they cant trim up and just have to ...

Re: Which 220S?
I have a 2017 220s. VP 300 DP.
I've had a screw or two come loose but overall happy with the build quality. Rides very nice for 22 footer.

Re: 2015 R3 Volvo V8 300HP reliability?
I would not worry about the Volvo or Merccruiser. The 5.3 aluminum block is a GM truck engine that has powered a million GMC/ Chevys over the years. Volvo "marinizes" it with their intake and exhaust and ECUs and sensors but deep down it is a GM truck engine. I have owned two 5.3s in my trucks and ...

Put it in the water finally, ran great temps all normal.Stagdad wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:20 am Update; Hauled her back to the servicing dealer, diagnostics showed water flow is fine, has bad temp sensors on the exhaust risers. Replaced all 4 (2 per side). We'll see if that cures it.

Re: Anchor for 220BR
After finding my fluke anchor did not fit in the anchor locker of my 220, I bought an 18lb Richter anchor. With six feet of chain this baby holds tight. Checkout wholesale marine website for pictures and price. It also fits nicely in my anchor locker. Of course lake bottoms vary but on my steep ...

Re: Trim Tabs
I had a 19' Stingray that was almost undrivable in anything but flat water and oscillated(porpoising) at anything other than full trim down. I installed the Nauticus trim tabs and was astounded at the difference they made. Handled rough water much better and the porpoising was eliminated. I have ...

The wildly inaccurate water and air temps
I have a 2017 220s with the standard gauge package (non garmin). Does anyone know where the temp sensors live that sends the values to the indicator? Lake water is usually displayed as ~10 degrees warmer than actual as does the ambient air temp readings. Instead of actual numbers maybe they should ...

Thrilled with my 220s with the 5.3 300 v8. Never a want for power or holeshot. Oh and it sounds beautiful....
