BTW - this boat doesn't have a generator or AC, etc. Anyone here have experience with adding those?

Get the hin number and get the build sheet from Cobalt. My spidey sence tells me engine swap from blues to 496ho ( hopefully Ho as crafty pics can block the covers.)

Sorry, i wasn't clear. The engines were replaced separately, unrelated to the outdrives being stolen. The engines were replaced in years past for different reasons, etc.

I'm more curious if anyone knows anything about this boat before i go look at it.

I just talked to the owner and he gave me the lowdown. It's had both engines replaced and both stern drives replaced as they were stolen last season.

Seems like a reasonable enough ...

Turns out there are no maintenance records available for this boat. Not to mention it's about to hit 200 hour mark - new valve springs and head job possibility... I'm going to pass on it.

Winter giveaway 2002 cobalt 263 powered by 496HO with 189 original hours that runs perfect with no error codes completely tuned and ready for spring....mated to a bravo 3 duo prop outdrive swinging 24s. Both outdrive and transom assy are less than 5 years old. Cabin mint except could use carpet ...

As AK stated unless your loading and unloading in salt I wouldn’t worry. You can add a flush kit when you get back with strainers y piped and be done in 5 minutes.
It’s the CMI exhaust that will suffer either way . Have them pressure checked before you take delivery.

If you're home port is fresh water, wouldn't the ride home basically flush the system anyway? If you boated in strctly salt water I get it, but if you're running back into fresh water every time I would think open cooling would be fine.

Yes, it has all the checkboxes for me except a closed cooling system - which is a big downside at the moment.

The big downside is no heat exchangers from Mercruiser as i understand it - need to purchase after market option which isn't ideal.
