Thanks for the tips. Yes, about 6 more screws under the liner.

1997 252 Bow backrest removal
97 252.
I would like to remove the seat backrest in the bow. It is the backrest with the ebroidered cobalt logo right below the windshield on the Starboard side.
I went into the head/storage area and removed the panel on the back wall, which revealed about 4 or 5 bolts that I removed. It loosened ...

Re: 252 Seat Hardware adjustment
Thanks for replies. Being the passenger seat that I rarely use, I only noticed while cleaning. I'll try digging into it more this weekend and report back. Then again, lake days are running out! This may need to wait.

252 Seat Hardware adjustment
I purchased a good used 1997 Cobalt 252 earlier this spring.
Was in really good condition when I purchased, but have made a few improvements such as fiberglass correction, buffing, new belts. Runs great and we've had a lot of fun.

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
Busy work today, so didn't call on boats, but asked for deposit back. When the boat is relisted, I'm waiting for it to be posted here lol! It'll be the perfect boat..... except for that long deep crack next to the transom! Still ticked off and bummed as everything was right...... except that crack ...

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
Thanks for the links. All look good shape that I'll check into more. I'm getting my deposit back on the one. But after that boat, my standards are high on interior and exterior! Just no cracked transom!

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
Thanks for advice, everyone. I will say salesman has been helpful and fair with me so far.
Talked to service manager. Fine spider cracks on chine are probably from impact. Wave or otherwise. Small spider cracks I didn't see on the underside of swim platform, which he said are common. Both cosmetic ...

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
Maybe on the 232 if a good enough deal. But, I'm now hung up on the 252. Service history is a big plus.
I have feelers out with a couple dealers and they've mentioned they get this type in quite a bit on trade in's. Patience will be the key for me. I saw quite a few before I had the boat dock ...

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
Ha!
Southern Missouri, Table Rock Lake.
My lift is rated 6000lbs. Lift guys says 25' cobalt is max.
500 hours or less. Prefer fuel injected.
I really like the Look of the older 252. Family of 4. We ski, swim, wakeboard, etc.
Good interior, but understand that the sundeck might need reupholster ...

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
Update:
I did talk to the salesman to see if the fiberglass guy looked at it. He told me to call the service manager in the morning, who will tell me this is purely cosmetic. Long story short, but the sales guy says I'm being way too picky for a 20 yo boat and most boats have stress cracks. 20yo ...

Re: 252 Crack in Transom Area OK or run?
I'm tempted to think that the previous owner backed into something, but no issues on the outside of swim deck.
She stress crack on the transom is definitely a gap that can allow water. I can push on the crack to make it wider and move.
The spider cracks on the hull.....I worry what caused those ...

I will add that in the worst spot I can push next to the crack to make it bigger.

Re: 2016 r7 stained seats
A few years ago had mildew stains on white seats where the covers laid on the tops of the seats, similar to yours. Not a cobalt, tho.
Tried many products, including professional vinyl cleaners, magic eraser, etc., with limited results.
Generic (Bass Pro, I think) brand mildew cleaner did OK.
