Re: Guess my service Bill: “How Much”
Yuk, that's big showroom/dealer prices. I use Modern Marine in Nashville for big repairs, but if there's some service I can do, I'll do it. I also have a traveling mechanic who will come to the house to do those middle-of-the-road jobs thas a bit above my talent level. Gimble bearing..... that's ...

2002 Cobalt 246 – 5.7l Volvo Nashville TN Area
Contemplating a new ride for the spring. Completely random putting this boat online. Not in a hurry to sell and not looking for help. Firm on price, and if it doesn’t sell, that’s fine. Will winterize in November, so boat trials until then for serious inquiries only.

Re: Volvo Penta 5.7 GXi – Fluctuating oil pressure readings
Mine bounces around quite a bit. Most likely the sending unit sensor. I bought a replacement, but I haven't yet installed it. has anyone replaced these before? If so, can you describe where it's at?
Thanks

Re: Possible fuel mistake
It depends on a filter on the pickup - some do some don't. If it did get sucked up, it would not make it past the anti siphon valve and it could cause a restriction - doubt it could make it to the fuel filter. You should be able to pull the sender out of the tank and get a look inside and possibly ...

Possible fuel mistake
Dropped a bottle of fuel additive in the tank before a weekend lake trip Friday. Always remove the tamper proof flap before I pour the contents.
This time however, the ring around the top of the bottle that is apart on the aluminum flap came off. Never seen that before, and have been using this ...

Re: 246 listing
I bought a 2002 246 with similar hours (300) in 2018. $27k with trailer.
Similar condition. Everything was original and clean. It's a great boat- a ton of room, and rides well.
Here's what I replaced in the first three years: A repeat of most of the posts above.

Re: Oil Change Save some Money
My dealer opined that the Volvo brand full synthetic was hard on the catalytic converter and should use a synthetic blend. Anyone else heard the same? I've used Volvo FS for years and had already purchased this years product. one last time I guess?

Re: R6 Vibration at lower RPM and lack of speed
First thought is gimble bearing or yoke bushings, but 150 hours is very early for this to be a problem unless the alignment has been out since installation. Another feeler test would be At low speed and turning at tightest radius, do you feel and vibration in the boat or floor? That could also help ...

Re: Possible U joint failure
U joint and gimble needs replacing according to the dealer. Had to buy the entire shaft assembly as Volvo wont sell the U joints anymore. Replacing the bellows and trim sensor as well.

2021, complete reseal of the drive and inspection of the bellows and gimble.
Probably 50 hours on it since. I decided to bite the bullet and schedule a service call just in case. Catch it early before there are too many boats in line at the garage.....

5.7 Volvo with a DP drive.
New vibration straight out of hibernation. Initial thoughts, U Joints and/or Gimble
Noticed a vibration when leaving the ramp and turning the drive sharp. Felt it in the wheel. No sound other than a grumble from the obvious shake.

Re: Lee tackles a faded blue Cobalt
I am watching his series now and he gets results. Brought this up to a detailer friend of mine and he said never used auto wax on a gelcoat boat finish!
Seemed to work for Lee, what's everyone's thoughts on using Fire Glaze? I use Flagship, but curious about tr4ying this product.
