Guess my service Bill: “How Much”
Ok gang, just got my boat from Cobalt dealer service. 2006 282 with twin 496mag HO’s. I usually do my own service, but this year, thought I would let the dealer look it over and do the usual annual maintenance:
* oil & filters change
* lower units serviced
* fuel filters
* couple trim relays ...

Need a recommendation for boat lift pump
Hi Cobalt fam,
I’m needing to order a new boat lift pump motor. I’m lifting 5 big tanks to pick up the 282. My current motor is a generic blower motor I got from industrial generic machine shop. Can’t remember where I got it from, but it’s been great. Looking to buy 2 new blower motors to bolt into ...

Good points guys.
. That said, it was quite remarkable how great it worked. And when all done surfing, switch back to 72mph mode. Way to go Cobalt.

Re: Saved $300,000 (‘06 282 Now Surfing!”
When the kids grow up, they get creative. Boys put 700lbs ballast in floor of boat(portable water bags) then attached this surf gate via suction cups. Crazy! It worked. The twin 496mag HO’s just lope along. Now we are surfers. Old school, but hey, I didn’t think we would be surfing much.

Feedback Request: Be proactive with maintenance at 500hrs on twin 496mag HO’s when all systems are good?
Hi all,
Twin 496mag HO’s. All systems good. Contemplating taking boat in for 500hr service. Aside from DIY for oil/gear lube, impellers, and fuel filters, I was wondering what proactive maintenance steps I could/should take at 500hrs. What parts might need attention? Do I risk fixing what isn’t ...

282 windless needs replaced
Hey Cobalt family, my wonderful windless started spitting out plastic teeth. Where do I get a replacement? It’s a Maxwell. Is this a hard replacement?

496mag HO “very sluggish power” ????
Here at year end, running the boat prior to winterization, my port 496mag HO is drastically under performing and very sluggish. Half power. More throttle does not produce more power. It’s extremely “fat” or sluggish starting off trying to get on plane.
Thoughts???

Loading up the Sea Foam Marine B4 winterization.
Loading up the Sea Foam through the gas & oil prior to putting away for season. Anyone else do this. Need to run through the 90 gallons. Shouldn’t take too long with the twins.
. What a wonderful 80 degree Oct 21st day.
