I did the same thing.
Did you check the prop shaft? There are a number of ways that a bent shaft can cause overheating.

". . . secure your vessel . . ."
Remove the lanyard and take it with you.
You have a sophisticated fob. I'd contact Yamaha, not the dealer.

"The marine survey should provide me with the market value . . ."
Not really what a marine survey does. If you want a good MV number, hire a boat appraiser.

Re: 2019 Cobalt R5 Stuck in Reverse
Had the same catastrophic failure, though much farther from home.
"(maybe some slight delays in shifting but barely noticeable)" -- and the same problem before the failure.
In my case, it was a bad shifter cable.

" . . . boat that we do love and roll the dice?!"
Go with your first love. But don't roll the dice. Get a marine survey. There are surveyors all over AL.

"Do you have a multimeter?"
No. But it's on my Christmas list.
I should've been clearer about the two new batteries. Those two are in the same position. The second battery does not drain.

"Or you may have a parasitic current draining your battery."
It's two new batteries draining in days. I suspect a parasite. The trick is finding the source.
Thanks for your tips.

"I had a loose connection . . ."
Did that cause a battery to drain?
One of mine is fine. The other keeps draining. (And it's new.)

Is it a surf model? If so, check the ballast tanks.

I have. The problem might be with the dock. Does she list to port when not docked? Which side is docked?

"Can't read anything on it"
A couple ways to tackle this: 1) Clean the tag with solvent, then take a picture with your phone. If needed, use the flash then photo editor. I've seen that work. 2) The number is also stamped on the block, perhaps starboard back. 3) Contact a dealer with your HIN. They ...
