Re: Complete cooling system hose kit for 5.7 GSI??

Don't know about the kit. Be sure to buy marine hoses and clamps.

"Also can the cooling hoses be changed with the boat in the water?"

Much trickier to do if any of the hoses are below the water line.

Why that vs. a transom-mounted one?

"At that point the temp rises to what appears to be may be 200." "[T]his may be normal operation and she's good."

That is NOT normal and she is NOT good.

From the Owner's Manual:

"SHOULD WATER TEMPERATURE REACH 180 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, YOUR ENGINE IS OVERHEATING AND SHOULD BE CHECKED IMMEDIATELY ...

Not given what you did and the symptoms.

There are sophisticated tests a mechanic can run.

"I hit a big log on the lake . . ." ". . . overheat situation happens."

I did the same thing.

Did you check the prop shaft? There are a number of ways that a bent shaft can cause overheating.

". . . secure your vessel . . ."

Remove the lanyard and take it with you.

You have a sophisticated fob. I'd contact Yamaha, not the dealer.

"The marine survey should provide me with the market value . . ."

Not really what a marine survey does. If you want a good MV number, hire a boat appraiser.

Re: 2019 Cobalt R5 Stuck in Reverse

Had the same catastrophic failure, though much farther from home.

"(maybe some slight delays in shifting but barely noticeable)" -- and the same problem before the failure.

In my case, it was a bad shifter cable.

Symptom of bad shifter cable: "The boat may remain in gear even after the shifter ...

" . . . boat that we do love and roll the dice?!"

Go with your first love. But don't roll the dice. Get a marine survey. There are surveyors all over AL.

"Do you have a multimeter?"

No. But it's on my Christmas list.

I should've been clearer about the two new batteries. Those two are in the same position. The second battery does not drain.

Re: Bilge pump not working 232

"Or you may have a parasitic current draining your battery."

Thanks for your tips.
