Re: Cobalt Boat hairline cracks
We had some cracks by the ski tower that were fixed in 22 when we initially bought our boat new. They have not re appeared. I'm a little nervous that they will. I have owned a three other cobalts all bought new, 2011, 2016, 2020 and the 2022, the 2022 is the only one that I have any issue with on ...

Re: Gel coat cracks…
I had some cracks and they were repaired, that was two years ago, have not had any return. Mine were on the deck near the ski tower. Same thing both on the exact location on port and starboard side. Dealer had no explanation. The repair place I used, with whom I'm very happy, said that Cobalt most ...

Re: R6S Vs R8S - Looking for Owner Opinions
We also have an R8 22 Surf, love the boat and the size. Easy to trailer. I pull mine with an F350, I would recommend a larger tow vehicle for sure as the boat with trailer, gas, gear, etc is almost 9,000 lbs. We are on the lake once or twice a week locally. We trailer to the lake. We have Boatmate ...

Re: R7 vs R8 surf
We upgraded from an R7 surf to the R8... The wave on the R8 is much better. Really like the the malibu surf gate as opposed to the huge serf tabs on the back of the R7. They are both great boats. Neither is built to the quality of cobalt pre-mailibu purchase of the company but show me something that ...

I have an 2022 R8 surf with same issue. Not a big deal but if it's an easy fix I'd like to know as well.

Re: CS232 - HAIRLINE CRACKS!! (NOT A HAPPY BOATER!!)
We had cracks on our 22 near the tower. We took delivery feb of 22 noticed the spider cracks in sept of 22. They were fixed early 23. Have had no issues since. I usually get a new boat every 4 or 5 years. They have all been cobalts never looked at other brands. When it's time for our next boat, I'll ...

Re: New to me 2020 R5
Congrats! Great looking boat and what an upgrade from the 242 (which is also a pretty awesome boat). Get your favorite adult beverage and spend some time playing with the Garmin screens. You'll like being able to set up the gages to your preference. We are in the KC area as well, hope to see you out ...

Re: Thoughts on dark colors for bottom of boat
any thoughts on ceramic coat vs wax? ive never wrapped my head around what happens when ceramic wears out or fails. does it have to be removed and reapplied or just add more? is it more like wax or clear coat?
I had a sales person try to sell me on the ceramic coat but it was pretty expensive ...

Re: R4 surf
Can't help with the R4, we have an R8 surf and we love the wave. Our heaviest surfer so far was 290 and a novice, he had no trouble being able to ditch the rope. Hope that helps.
Also, our boat came with the wrong prop. When we got the right prop it made a huge difference on gas mileage and noise ...

Re: anyone have spy shots of the new CS series?
We have an R8 Surf which we really enjoy. If we hadn't of wanted to get into surfing we would have kept our 2016 A25. We had a lot of issues with that boat, which Cobalt took care of, but it's still a pain to deal with them. Our R8 hasn't had near as many issues. We've had a few gel coat cracks but ...

Re: R33 Surf!!!!
The R8 Surf throws a big wave. The R33 Surf seems like it will capsize some nearby boats!
We have an R8 surf and we are super happy with it. The wave is awesome. But we average 10-11 GPH when surfing. The R33 with twins I'm guessing would be 20-25 GPH to surf behind... expensive day... but i ...
