I have an inexpensive GoPro clone for just these purposes. I can mount it under my vehicles to check for suspension noises.

Re: Cleaner advice

If you look at the MSDS of the Starbrite bilge cleaner, it's active ingredients are isopropyl alcohol and sulfuric acid so any kind of cleaner that uses something similar will work.

Personally, I just use simple green and a scrub brush.

Assuming Volvo since it has the crank mounted pump.

I wonder how careful they were to inspect the pump bearing play. I would also be considering replacing the idler pulley.

Re: I broke my tower light

I replaced mine on my R5 since it sticks up and I would hit the garage door where I store it. I would have given it to you but I threw it away.

Instead...I bought a flat light that sits on top of my tower.

Similar to this one.

Re: Oil Change Save some Money

I agree it's not fun, but honestly, I'm still limited to the size of the dipstick tube. It's not that much different. If 1/4" fits down it, then it can't be more than 3/16' ID. What I am really gaining? Plus, I would have to re-engineer the fitting on top of the pump. As is it does it in about 15 ...

Re: Oil Change Save some Money

Almost looks like you could attach some clear tubing to the top of the unit and then run that to a garden hose adapter. Would use hose clamps on each end so it wouldn't leak.

Something like this might work depending on hose diameter.

Trust me, you will get tired of trying to suck oil through that ...

100% agree. These new engines make winterization and oil changes a breeze. One tip I will offer- I have a 2016 5.3 and the vacuum pump from west marine. That particular pump uses a 1/4" hose that goes down the center of the dipstick tube (yes it's slow). THe tube that comes with the pump is ...

That is correct.

Make sure you replace the o-rings on all 3 plugs when doing a gear oil change.

Re: Adding rudder position indicator.

Often, you can get these connectors with pigtails so you don't have to buy separate pins and use a crimper.

I use oxalic acid. Sometimes I spray it...sometimes I mix in a bucket and use a brush. Works amazing.

Search officially ended today. Just 1100 miles to get it home. 2020 R7 exactly what we were looking for. Marinemax Nisswa, MN was great to deal with. Had it surveyed , with sea trial, and made the 1100 mile , one way, drive from NY. Boat had been completely detailed inside and out as part of deal ...

I don't have trim tabs on my R5 and never really had an occasion that I really needed them

Re: are battery tenders worth it

If the batteries have a disconnect switch, that works although I still use a battery charger that keeps the batteries floated all winter.
