Re: Another 190 noob question: AUX switches

They’re spares. I have my chartplotters wired to one.

Re: Advice on replacing pedestals on a 1998 232

@mdadgar, on the 220, there is an aluminum reinforcing plate under the fiberglass sole where the seats go. I lnow this based on curly bits of metal coming out while drilling new holes (hopefully you won’t have to do that). The SS machine screws holding down the pedestal just screw into the holes in ...

Re: Advice on replacing pedestals on a 1998 232

I put the Wise 8WP21-374 pedestals (bought from Amazon) on our '95 220. Work great, did have to drill new holes because they didn't line up exactly with the old ones.

Re: Cobalt 232, propeller

Owner's manual here: https://cobaltboats.com/art/manuals/2007_232_OM.pdf
May need to call Cobalt or your local dealer, as the propeller chart on page 1-15 doesn't seem to have a recommended prop for your configuration.

Re: Fuel efficiency (MPG)

Local Cobalt dealer here also sells Malibus and has both in their rental fleet. IIRC they say the Malibu surf burns about 2x GPH what a similar size Cobalt uses, with full ballast.

Beautiful boat, congrats. She should fly with that motor. Where do you run it?

Re: 1998 Cobalt 220 wiring schematic

Last year I replaced all the gauges in our boat, as most of them were in various stages of failing. You can get OEM Faria Beede replacements on Amazon, they're very easy to swap out. Agree with AsLan7 that there are no CBs or fuses in line with the gauges.

Re: Considering a 1993 Cobalt 196 BR

I would make sure the survey *does* include a detailed examination of the exhaust hoses, bellows, manifolds and risers. On a 31 year old boat, if any of those haven't been replaced at some point in the recent past, you'll likely be doing so.

Re: 2023 R4 Outboard

As for the transom remote, we have 3 of these wireless ones on our boat with a Fusion head unit. They’re cheap and absurdly easy to install. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/641993

Re: 2005 220 VP 5.7 won't start

If it wouldn’t crank from the jump battery, I would check the main circuit breakers (probably 3 of them, on the front of starboard exhaust riser). If any of these are tripped, motor will not run.

Re: 276 bow seat gas shocks

Hodges Marine has a big selection of gas springs. No idea about the specific size or lift rating for your bow seats, but you could try calling them.

Re: Best Anchor?

+1 for the box anchor. We have the medium size (~14 lb) and love it. Attach rope, throw it in, done. No more backing up to set it, etc.
