Re: R26/R26 Surf
I don’t like the loss of freeboard. I’m sure it saved money, but there is less safety in rough water and it just doesn’t look like a premium hull.

Re: All new R26
The split backrest supports look cheap and like they could cause some pain if you were bounced against them in rough water.

2027 R6 Bow Seating - NEW!!!
Hi All,
I was just looking at a new 2027 Cobalt R6 on a dealer website today and noticed that the starboard bow seating lounger has done away with the foot space and replaced it with a full length cushion to match the port side lounger. Good move Cobalt! The bow area in this model is too short for ...

Re: Vehicle to tow R8
9,000 lbs with 10% on the tongue is 900 lbs on the receiver hitch. RAM trucks recommends a weight distributing hitch for anything over 5,000 lbs and says the max tongue weight on a Class IV receiver is 1,100 lbs. I'd get a 3/4T truck to pull your boat. PS I hope your user name isn't related to a ...

Re: Oil Leak on Newer Volvo Penta 350
I thought power steering fluid was red (along with trans fluid), but better to have a power steering leak than an engine leak. My 2019 VP350 has been dry since new.

It's the Malibu influence (on Cobalt quality) and an incompetent dealer added in. What did the dealer say when you told them?

Re: R6 or R8 surf
I wouldn't buy an R8 Surf @ $350,000+ USD (or any boat in that price range) without a water test - period. Everyone on this forum will have an opinion about wave quality, ride and handling, but it is just that, their opinion.

Can you find a name on it? Maybe you can search the manufacture's website?

Re: 2019 R3 - 20 second Beep Alarm?
The boat will start because if the person is overboard you want the remaining people on board to start engine and be able to rescue person overboard.
I get it. It’s not like my Sea Doo where the lanyard is both a key and a safety cut off for when the operator falls off. It would be nice if ...

Re: 2019 R3 - 20 second Beep Alarm?
It was the lanyard. I must have knocked it off when I rotated the captains chair. My question is, why does the boat start when the lanyard isn’t in?

2019 R3 - 20 second Beep Alarm?
Hi All,
My VP350 Garmin unit has just started emitting a beep tone every 20 seconds. The beep will sound even with the engine off and ignition on. Engine gem is normal, oil pressure is 45psi at idle. The only problem I can identify is a faulty trim switch which is causing the gauge to jump around ...

Maybe use velcro strips to attach the cushions to the base? It's a bit strange that they don't come attached.

Re: Considering a Cobalt R3
I purchased a 2019 R3 new (in 2019) with a VP350. It has been an excellent boat (now with 108 hours). It has not needed any repairs and the build quality is rock solid. You won't regret purchasing a Cobalt. As to engine power, the power curves for the VP 300 and 350 are pretty similar until ...
