R5 How to remove trim panel at throttle/shift lever?
Hi guys. My 2014 R5 VP380 DP sat for 5 months in the Florida marina barn and I returned to find the throttle/shift lever is frozen in the neutral position. I figure to get at it remove the two screws on the trim plate to slip it over the lever and then take off the upholstered panel surrounding it ...

Re: Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
Thanks Bruce,
Could I also see it by removing the cover from the outdrive? Anyway I don't really trust that what's in there is correct. The mechanic told me it was kinked and he had to straighten it.... I just emailed Cobalt Support. There's actually a Cobalt dealer in Port Charlotte near me but ...

Re: Update on my Cobalt R5 VP 380
Thanks again to all of you for your help and advice.
Can anyone tell me the shift cable length on the R5 with Volvo Penta dual prop outdrive and what is a good brand to buy?
Update-wise. We just got back to Florida 2 weeks ago and I immediately took pics of my fuel pump assembly for Troy at ...

Re: Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
billk2632 thank you I'll check him out. The mechanic who worked on this boat told my my boat didn't have the painted fuel pump internals and that was discontinued prior to my model year so huh...

Re: Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
Thanks John and Bruce. My neighbor has a VP 320 and he recently paid 2500 to have his replaced only to get a bad unit.... I'm going over this morning to have a close look at what the job entails on my boat.

Update
Thanks to all of you who replied to my earlier post. I wish this update could be upbeat but not so much. After buying the boat I contracted with the local mechanic in Sarasota where I purchased the boat to clean some marine growth around the drive and transom plate. While he was doing that he found ...

Re: Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
Thank you both for your replies. Yes it was and is a saltwater boat. But the good news is i didn't pay anything close to freshwater price and I'm prepared to invest what's necessary to get it right. I am going to follow both of your guidance! This boat sat in saltwater at some point in its life and ...

Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
Hi all! I posted some time ago that I was looking for an R5 and it finally happened. I found the boat for sale by private owner in Sarasota, about 35 miles from my Florida place. It's a 2014 Volvo Penta 380 nicely optioned out. Current owner has had it since 2019, it has 277 hours and the same ...

Re: Still looking for an R5 but got a ride on an R6
Thank you! My screens look nothing like that. I have the 8610xsv with stock programming from Cobalt.
Then I guess I can't help, sorry. Sounds like you need to contact Cobalt and I hope they didn't drop the ball on this feature.
Frankly I'm wavering on the R4 anyway. I'm afraid the lack of a ...

Re: Still looking for an R5 but got a ride on an R6
So I have a preliminary negotiated deal on a special order R4 OB with the Merc 300, bimini and a few essential options. Next week I will go see a for sale R4 in Cape Coral (300hp Yamaha) and on the same day I get to drive a 2022 Four Winns H4 OB with a 250hp Merc. The Four Winns pricing is ...

Re: Still looking for an R5 but got a ride on an R6
As a newbie owner of an R6 I cant say I have much to compare it to but having it out in the ocean here in the pacific i think it handles the waves well and have not had a seastate that was conducive to full out. For me I think it comes down to what you want in a boat. While I am with you on power ...

Re: Still looking for an R5 but got a ride on an R6
Thanks everyone for your comments. So I might be OK with a VP380... I will talk to the dealer about a new one but the online price for a decent build is way up there including like $17K "factory material surcharge" And here in SW Florida nobody wants an I/O so I would prefer to invest way less in a ...
