Re: New to us 2008 Cobalt 222 - Some Questions
Get the props checked for balance, and if the outdrive hasn't been serviced in the last 3-4 years I would also recommend it. It may solve your shaking issue as well.

Re: Raw Water Pump Seal Leaking - Easy Fix
Good timing for seeing this post.
I just spent yesterday afternoon rebuilding the raw water pump for our 8.1 Gi. It was dripping water from the weep hole this spring. The whole rebuild was not hard, but you need to have the tools to pull a blind bearing. I spent more time looking for tools that ...

Re: Need to service a bilge float. Can I unscrew the panel it's mounted to?
yep. This is what I ended up doing. I used a micro bit ratchet and it worked well. Got the float replaced and spliced into the factory harness in about an hours time. Here's to hoping I do not need to do that again any time soon.

Here's my bunks for our 2010 232. Three sets of bunks.

Need to service a bilge float. Can I unscrew the panel it's mounted to?
I have a float that gets stuck up, so want to remove it and investigate what's going on. But access to it is a real chore. Can I unbolt the two screws that hold the black plate that attaches to the hull, to get the float and pump out to a side? Or are those screws a real pain and meant to be a one ...

8.1 Gi Trim Sender - Not working most of the time
Hi All - You have been very helpful in the past, so will go to you all first.
2010 232 with the 8.1 Gi. For the past year the trim position has sometimes worked, sometimes not on the dash. It never works out of the water, and when it does work, it seems to be only when on a ramp when putting the ...

Re: favorite brand of deep cycle battery
Lithium is absolutely the future, just don't know how far in the future it will be to get the prices down, and trickle down the proper charging technology. That being said I had AGM batteries for years and actually had an Optima and a Cabelas brand both go bad within 2 years and needed replaced on ...

Re: New-to-me 232
The letters are held on with 3M double sided tape. Easy to re-apply. I imagine the emblem is the same, although I have not removed mine to be sure. Fishing line is the trick to get them off easy. On a yearly basis I polish my boat and find I can get in between the letters with my small polisher pad ...

Re: New-to-me 232
I can’t stand that guys opinion on the letters. It only makes his job easier to get rid of them. There is no version of any vinyl sticker that looks as good as the raised letters or emblem.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks --- Where to Stay???
Just got back from 8 days on LOTO in the Niangua Arm. Can’t stand the main channel for traffic. I only take our 232 to the main channel during the week. Weekends are crazy. Like others said, stay off the main channel or you better find a place with a lift that you can use. Your boat will take a ...

Re: What brand bearings do you use?
Just redid all new bearings and races and new grease for the vault hubs after 12 years. Installed Timken bearings all around. To be honest the Chinese ones inside looked fine. I go for Timken any time I’m doing bearings. Never had an issue with them.

Re: stripped lower unit gear lube bolt hole
coming back to this on the warm side of winter......
I took the 232 to the shop to get this situation resolved, and the resolution was way simpler than I thought it was going to be. Apparently the drain hole bolt on my model was a "short" model that was only used for about 2 years, and it only ...

Re: Flooring Recommendations
My carpet is in great shape, but I got tired of the drying time on it. It took days to dry. I went with snap in seagrass instead, and Sea Dek on the swim platform and walk through step. I can honestly say I have no complaints. It works great. I have very light colored seagrass, and in direct ...

Re: Fender covers
I'm not into buying the Cobalt branded items at the extra cost. I went all in on the Polyform fenders (F-2 size), and their EFC-2 fender covers. Can't say enough about them. We have been extremely happy using them.
