Re: Wakeboarding on an R8 surf

Our 2018 R5 Surf throws a great wave for wake boarding and hydro foiling so the R8 should be even better.

Re: Looking to buy Marker One M27

They stopped making them in 7 years ago so it will likely be tough to find one in like new condition. I’ve owned one since 2017 and IMO they are still a higher quality boat than any tri-toon manufactured today. Here’s one in AZ that is worth checking out. They are asking $95k but that amount spent ...

Re: R30 vs R31

I was in a R30SC last month in Naples and it is a beauty. The Gulf was very calm so I can’t comment on how it handles rough water but the few boat waves we encountered it handled with ease. I’m now starting to see more and more Cobalts with outboards down here in FL compared to 5 years ago.

Like @Aslan7, I’m a big fan of 3M. I worked at 3M in the Automotive Aftermarket/Marine division the last 21 years of my career calling on automotive and marine body/repair shops. There are lots of great products out there that I’m also a fan of including 303 and Hot Sauce already mentioned ...

Re: Catastrophic engine failiure in 2023 R6 Surf

Glad that Volvo is taking care of it. We had our lower unit fail on our 2018 R5 Surf last June. My daughter was driving it at 6mph in 40 feet of water when it just stopped. I didn’t 100% believe her at first but there were zero nicks in the props when we pulled it out at the repair shop on the lake ...

Re: Hello from Lake Tahoe

Beautiful! I have many fond summer and winter memories of Lake Tahoe. We lived in NorCal for 20 years and had a lakefront condo in King’s Beach that we sold in 2018 when we left California. The water clarity and surrounding mountains make it one of the best spots in the US.

2021 R6 with Merc 350 and 31 hours - $130k

My friend and neighbor on Gull Lake, MN has his gently used ‘21 R6 for sale. It’s been stored inside or on his covered lift since new but he’s selling it for a luxury pontoon that better fits his boating needs. Mint condition from a very meticulous owner who’s firm at $130k, trailer included. The ...

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boat!

I use my wife’s diesel Range Rover for towing but we normally tow just once in the spring and once in the fall less than 10 miles back and forth to winter storage. The engine is a Ford Lion 3.0 diesel that was offered on their F150 until a couple of years ago. It’s certainly not a conventional ...

Re: Backup Props

As mentioned already, where you boat is a big factor. I don’t have extra props for our MN lake boating in our R5 Surf but it’s not very likely I would sustain anything but minor damage on a prop. If I did it’s easy to get a tow from a neighbor or other boater to one of the marinas on the lake.

For ...

Re: R7 vs R8 surf

We bought ours 4 years ago from MacKite and it was about $1,400 at the time. https://www.mackiteboarding.com/slingshot-all-around-boat-foil-package/

Behind a boat, it takes a bit more coordination than wake surfing but most can figure it out in a day or two. The battery powered wakefoil boards are ...

Re: R7 vs R8 surf

We own an R5 Surf and the R6 Surf wave has a bit more forward push but for an experienced surfer it doesn’t really matter as the wave isn’t any bigger. The R7 with it’s extra mass, has plenty of forward push so if you can save $20k or more, I’d go that way over the R8. IMO the overall style of the ...

I happens but should be rare if they use the correct 3M VHB double sided tape to install it.
