Re: Boat Hull Blisters - 2003 262
Gelcoat can blister like that if it absorbs water or water gets behind it. Cobalt uses a water barrier layer between the gelcoat and fiberglass now, but I don't know when that started or how effective it is from keeping this kind of thing from happening. My guess is that the bunk carpet holds ...

Boat Hull Blisters - 2003 262
I have somewhat new to me 2003 Cobalt 262 and last weekend we loaded on a ramp that wasn't very level. The boat sat a few inches off center and revealed a good bit of blistering where the bunks would normally be.

Re: Advice on buying a 262 (or other 24-27')
Wow. Looks like this is the thread I need to be on. All of these KS Cobalt owners, LOL.
A bunch of great looking "2 series" boat in this thread for sure. I'm located in Topeka, and frequent Lake Perry, and Melvern if any of you are ever around those 2. I know... not as pretty as TRL, Grand, or ...

Re: 2003 VP 8.1 - Gear engagement
The delay going into gear is most likely the shift cable needing adjustment or less likely wear on the cone clutch causing it to start slipping - I would check the cable first.
On the lockout are you talking about a kill switch / lanyard? Most boats have that and it is a requirement to have / use ...

2003 VP 8.1 - Gear engagement
I have a new to me 2003 262 w/ a 8.1 GXi. We took it on our first trial yesterday and it went great overall. One odd thing though was the point at which forward and reverse engaged. Let's say fully forward is 0°, fully upright (neutral) is 90°, and full reverse is 180°. Forward gear didn't seem to ...

Re: Advice on buying a 262 (or other 24-27')
Fellow KS guy and just to the West of you, Goddard. First boat was a 96 Crownline 182, sold to get a new 07 Cobalt 220 and attended our first regatta the same year. In 2018 sold it with only 160 ish hours on it to get a 04 Cobalt 262 in 2019 and haven't looked back. We love the 262 Platform, the ...

Re: Advice on buying a 262 (or other 24-27')
Wowwwwww!!!!!! I was really disappointed when I did my daily 262 add check and that was marked sold!!!! I promise you, that is one of the nicest 262’s sold this year. (Ask me how I know)😂😂😂😂 I to have been bouncing back and forth with a A28 and a 262. I have about 6 262’s in my back pocket that I ...

Yep, hope to see you down there! We're usually near shell Knob but might make the trek to Branson for the Regatta.Dhooghe81 wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 7:24 pm Beautiful 262! I saved it on marketplace when it popped up. Hope to see you down at TRL next summer, I'm a fellow KS Cobalt owner myself (2006 272).

Re: Pulled the trigger! 2003 262, VP GXi, Stainless tower
That is one fine looking rig! I bought a 2001 262 in July that needed some love but we finally got her finished this weekend and I installed my new Westland Sunbrella mooring cover. It fits great and feels so much sturdier than the ragged out sharkskin cover that came with the boat. It does weigh ...

Pulled the trigger! 2003 262, VP GXi, Stainless tower
I posted a few weeks back for advice on a 2003 262 ( https://www.cobaltchat.com/viewtopic.php?p=120176 )
and the community came through with great advice. We pulled the trigger and are excited to make great memories. Big thanks to AsLan7 for the insight!

Yep, we've come to terms on price. Owner is out of town for a couple of weeks, so we'll finalize it and I'll get the boat on 10/27. Looking forward to joining the club!
Here's a video my wife took during the sea trial. Sure looks sharp with the bimini on! I'll add more photos once I take delivery ...

As a long time 262 and 263 owner, I would jump on that.
Price is not unreasonable.
The options it has and the updates make it well worth the price. The memories you’ll make on it will be priceless.
Thanks, AsLan! Is there anything in particular that you recommend I take a close look at ...

Advice on buying a 262 (or other 24-27')
Hello all, long time lurker first time poster :D
I grew up on a Cobalt. A mid 1980's 21BR. I grew up a short drive from Neodesha, KS, so we took a lot of pride in the boat and that it was Kansas made.
Fast forward 30 years, and I have two kids of my own that love the lake (7 year old son and 4 ...
