Fortunately, a day later and some Prednisone, the swelling is down a lot. I just ordered some carbide insert tooling to try to get a better surface finish right out of the lathe. With post some pictures later if I am able to make some more progress. But tomorrow night I head back up to the lake.. Sorry - priorities, you know!?

It looks like my 242 has the same threaded connection on the bottom, but the pylon is not as long. I can get you a thread count and length if you want, but no guarantees. You might have to build me a short one to try it out. ;-)

Honestly, it's good to know that there might be a larger market for these with all the tooling I've ordered! ;-)

How can he build it without the data? First one to provide specs wins.

You're good TR - I'll offer you first dibs. But I want to make one and finish it before I give any pricing. Then there's no surprises for either of us.

I used my 9" WallyWorld umbrella again yesterday and I just have to say it is bombdiggity.

When the sun is straight up and hot its pretty freaking awesome when the lower swimdeck is in the shade. It almost feels like a swim-up bar!

I do have a couple of observations. Someone mentioned once about a thumbscrew to hold it in and I didn't think it was necessary, but now I think that may not be a bad idea. We had a mild breeze and twice the whole thing lifted up out of the sleeve. Both times it's settled back down but it made me a little nervous that it was going to come completely out and flip over into the lake.

Bear suggested using a short piece of PVC that he polished and stuck down in the pylon hole. If we would have had that set up we would have lost the umbrella twice! I think that's one of the reasons the sleeve is so tall, so it can accommodate a breeze when it picks the the umbrella up. A thumbscrew would be dandy. Losing a cheap unit to the lake gods is no big deal, but I would be pissed otherwise...
Fair warning Bear!

Also, as this was a running experiment and I didn't want to go by a premium umbrella until I knew this was going to work. The Cheapo version from Wally world is a piece of crap. I don't think it will last more than one or two more outings if there's a breeze at all. Our last one snapped just above the little angle gizzmo hardware because there's not much there to hold it together. So for anyone buying a pylon from Slide, invest in a better umbrella! I have no doubt you'll like the setup!

I'm working today but tomorrow I'll try to get pictures.t actually looks pretty cool when I backed off a bit to see it.

I'm still going with 1/2-13, assuming that there's a little perspective illusion going on with diameter measurement. It could be 9/16-12, but those are uncommon. Really hoping to have the first unit finished next week.

I think you’re right, slide.

Other option..... I’m taking delivery of my ‘19 this week. It has the tower so could send you my ski pylon if it’d help.
