Re: Replace temp and depth Gauge
Update - filled transducer and seems to work but depth is off, normal in my experience but I may just not know how to calibrate them

Re: Replace temp and depth Gauge
set it to zero so you get actual water depth.

Can someone tell about my system and what maintenance/cleaning I need to perform. On the dash (cockpit) I have a digital depth gauge and digital (?) water/air temperature indicator.
1. The digital depth gauge is a Faria digital Depth Sounder #ISO141B. The transducer I believe is to the right of the outdrive. Owners manual wiring diagram shows a remote switch. Does something need to be cleaned, inspected? replaced?
2. For the water/air temperature indicator I have know idea how it works. There is a SS 1/4 cylinder on the hull with a screen in it on the STBD side. Screen looks dirty with wax. I assume that's giving the air temperature and the water temp is coming from the intake somewhere.
Sorry for the Q's, last year was engine compartment this year it's the boat accessories. I also have the Smartcraft manual for next year

Re: Replace temp and depth Gauge
On mine the air temp sensor is under the dash. Just hanging around. The water temp is mounted to the transom. Tiny sensor with no screen. If you have a Volvo that is the speedo pick up your seeing next to the drive. The switch just switches Between air and water temp. I think it says on the guage which one your set too.
I think what you think is the air sensor is the fuel tank vent.

Look thru this thread sab220. It may help regarding your depth finder operation.
The temperature gauge is simply toggled between air and water temperature using that remote silver switch. If you hold the switch vs toggling it I believe it changes to Celsius. There is really no maintenance to be performed on it.

Re: Replace temp and depth Gauge
Thanks for the replys. i have Mercruiser 350 mag.
So the tube to the right of the drive is the speedo pickup. and I'll look for the other sensor (boat is up North)
AsLan7 in that other thread that's the Faria booklet I have. But where is the transducer?
BBP - Yes that the fuel tank vent. I think I have access to it to keep the screen clear
Just trying to figure whats going on before boat hits the water. BTW - we have spiders and moths that love to build winter homes all over the place. As a result I try to block outlets before the shrink wrap happens that's why I ask about cleaning. Not totally familiar with boat yet

The depth gauge transducer is mounted on the hull bottom in front of the engine-starboard side. Unscrew top puck ....fill with some type of antifreeze....replace. Should work good as new.

Re: Replace temp and depth Gauge
Thanks, and that why I was confused by all this because the transducer should be on the hull.

Yes I did it today. Unscrewed the puck. Did everything by finger touch. Its was located just below and aft of the the FW pump. Used a funnel with a tube connected at funnel outlet to fill (overflowed it) . Fed tube between and just behind the fan belt to fill. Boat is not exactly level so hope that's not a problem. There was also a o-ring with the puck so be-careful with disassembly/assembly. Suggest you clean everything best you can with a rag. I might have better access to the puck when I change the gas-water separator filter. (Pictures above are great)
