A week!

Wanted this done by Labor Day so we could do some boating. Hoping for Friday now to receive pump and install.

This may sound crazy but have you asked Gerry's if there are zebra mussels in the lake that your boat came from? Have you ever heard of those? You might Google it. They can get into water passages and clog everything up. They're pretty invasive from what I understand

Great point gents.
Lake Mead has a current history of zebra mussel invasion.

Will certainly check for that in the outdrive.
Thank u!

After you guys mentioned zebra mussels, I googled "Zebra mussels outdrive issues"

This link sure sounds familiar.

Page 9 & 11 were very interesting:

There must be a product of some sort to prevent the growth. Zebra mussels were recently found in both Lake Travis and Lake Austin. The municipalities pull their drinking water from these lakes. During the interview, some of them mentioned they were not worried so much as they had chemical injection lines at the intake where they could add chemical to prevent growth inside the pipes, and that divers could clean the outside.

I assume it is safe for the environment because I'm drinking it.

I thought the same thing, if I could flush my engine with some after use, I might prevent the plugging.

.
New Merc raw water pump on order.
Power steering / oil pump cooler clear of any debris.

Also, hose running from outdrive to transom (which had been replaced but twisted last month by previous tech in Las Vegas) is on order. Also ordered the red hose (shown earlier) from transom to raw water pump. 99.999% chance these three items will cure our water flow issue. (New pump with impeller; new red hose from transom to pump; new grey hose from outdrive thru transom)

You can see the grey hose that is twisted/bent at a right angle (above bellows) going thru hull. This needs two persons during install so it does not twist. Otherwise you get restricted flow.

Current NE marina techs, Roy and Chad will be doing install Friday or next week when all parts arrive.

Driller in the thread that Aslan posted they talk about a product that turns them into slime, but i never saw the name of it. It shouldn't take to much to search it though.. Apparently you fill your engine and outdrive like you are winterizing, let it set for a week and rinse it out.

So far we have been lucky, but I think zebra mussels are kinda like the hogs, if you live in an area that doesn't have them, eventually you will.

FWIW, we did not see any zebra mussels.

..just the hose restriction due to the caution not being followed in the manual.

Awesome! Hopefully you've killed the last gremlin and on your way to spending some time on the water before it freezes over!
