If I understand what I saw/read at the DMV the other day Utah says no the anything other that flat block letters on our boats, kind of strange but then it is Utah. So any ideas I had for domed letters is gone.

. Unless I misunderstood what I saw.

I live in American Fork and I talked to a Utah ranger about this yesterday. He told me they don’t care if they are flat or raised like these domed letters are as long as they are easy to read. No cursive or super fancy fonts, and don’t use light colored letters on a light hull or dark on a dark hull because there has to be good contrast. Here’s a link to the Utah DNR official guide, nothing in it says “flat”.

That's pretty much the same around here. Letters must contrast. I think they even might say block letters. I don't think they care as long as they can see and read them.
