Need help with R6 surf trailer prop guard

I’ve had zero issues launching my R5 Surf on and off my Phoenix trailer in the 3+ years I’ve owned it. This summer with the extreme MN drought, there are boat launches that are too shallow to even float a fully trimmed R5 Surf without hitting the props. As long as the water at the launch is deep enough, I have zero issues loading or unloading the boat on and off the trailer.

Yes it's fine if you go straight on it. But if you have current or you don't come at it dead on and you make a correction and turn the wheel bad things can happen. That's all I'm saying. Be careful surf boys.

I considered Phoenix but the price went from 10800 to. 13800 because I had them add bow steps and better axles. (R6 surf is heavy)

Load master was 9000 including better axles, but I’m waiting on the final price for steps, prop guard, and guide poles. I’ve already decided to go with Loadmaster though. They have been super accommodating and professional.

Forgot to mention that I’m going with electric brakes this time since I have the choice. I like the electric for a couple of reasons. They work when you are backing down the ramp, and they will not automatically engage when backing up a hill! This is helpful unless I’m trying to impress my teenagers by doing full drift in reverse while backing the trailer

Good choice! I went with standard electric brakes for the same reason plus they are easy to repair if and when needed. Some go with EOH but my trailer will never see salt so I didn’t see the need to spend the money to upgrade something that I will never use. I’m not going to tell you what I paid for my Loadmaster a little over a year and a half ago... They were still cheaper than Heritage at the time.

Well, I just got my quote from Loadmaster. I got front steps, 16 inch aluminum wheels, transom tie downs, extended frame rails, prop guards, guild poles for BBP and the bottom bunk has some sort of pvc or something slick to reduce friction and help protect the black hull!
All that and still way cheaper than Phoenix

I recently converted my Pacific trailer to EOH brakes (it was supposed to be EOH when I ordered it but we converted it back to surge when I picked it up because we discovered at the last minute that my brake controller could not do EOH).

It's night and day better than the surge brakes and also noticeably better than the standard electric brakes on my race trailer.

As long as you are going to the time and expense, I'd do EOH.

I agree! Having EOH would be much better, but it’s really not necessary for me because my tow rig is a 11000lb Ford dually. I haul WAY heavier things on a daily basis so I’m use to keeping my distance and driving defensively. Towing with a dually is night and day different over single rear wheel rigs for sure!
