New Boat Must Have - Trim Tabs
Re: New Boat Must Have - Trim Tabs
Never had trim tabs but can see the need for them to offset the balance side to side. The R5 is very "left sided seated" in the cockpit and not practical to distribute the weight with 3 or more people. Nobody really wants to sit on the cooler. First on my list for an upgrade however concerned that the autoglide will not function if installed later. I actually like the autotrim. I can't trim better and if the sea gets rough I will override or turn it off.

I gained enough weight to cover two people on the other side of the boat.

Just sharing photos of the trim tabs on a R4 Surf that I recently saw. I was curious what they looked like on the new surf models so maybe you are too.

I see why they need them. No longer have the extended running surface.

Owning an R5 I agree they are not necessary for bow/stern trim but they sure do come in handy to offset the heavy left sided seating layout.dustinm wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 2:26 pm I see why they need them. No longer have the extended running surface.
