I’ll update later in the week. I sent videos and dropped boat at dealer. I figure if it’s there they are more apt to look at it and figure it out. I appreciate all the help so far. I did find this nick in the prop but doesn’t explain why it’s getting worse and hard yo believe it could cause that much vibration.bruceb58 wrote: Sun Sep 12, 2021 12:20 pm That's is some crazy vibration. Can you make a video with the engine hatch open while someone else drives the boat?

Re: ‘19 R5 Vibration
I wouldn’t think a nick that small would even be noticeable. I bet I have a few just like that in my props. I had one bigger than that a couple years from a single hit that luckily only hit one blade. I can’t feel any vibration in my props at all. The one bigger hit that I had left a sharp edge that I just lightly filed smooth and I don’t notice anything as far as vibration. Every winter I say that I am going to pull them and send them in to be balanced but I never get around to it.

There is no way that nick is doing it. I hit a rock one year on my rear prop and bent the blade. I was able to hammer it back a little bit and used the boat that way for a few days and it didn't have the vibration you have.

I bet one of your ujoints are "dry" and causing a binding situation. When the tech checked the ujoints he was just checking for looseness which it probably hasnt advanced that far yet.

Update: props are being sent out for balance. Dealer didn’t have a new set of FH5 or 6 in stock. No new ones available due to covid (imagine that). Dealer pulled rear unit and rechecked bearings and u-joints and confirmed again no issue. Props should be back Saturday.

Cross our fingers. They don't have any boats either? LolSnowman73 wrote: Wed Sep 15, 2021 6:56 pm Update: props are being sent out for balance. Dealer didn’t have a new set of FH5 or 6 in stock. Well just wanted to close the loop on this subject in case others have something similar one day. Finally got out on the water today for about twenty minutes. Seems like the prop balancing fixed the issue. Boat season is over for me this year. Dropped it off for winterizing this afternoon.

I’m blaming it on my daughter. She drives the boat now.Big Block Power wrote: Sun Sep 26, 2021 2:43 pmGood deal. Now quit hitting stuff! Re: ‘19 R5 Vibration
Wow, I never would have guessed that. I have a few small nicks in both of my props but I don’t have any vibration. After 6 years I was kinda thinking about pulling them this winter and sending them to a prop shop to have them balanced and checked out. Now I’m thinking harder about it. Does anyone know of a good place to send Volvo props for balancing?Snowman73 wrote: Sun Sep 26, 2021 12:44 pm Well just wanted to close the loop on this subject in case others have something similar one day. Re: ‘19 R5 Vibration
The prop of course doesn't have to show damage to be out of balance. I got my crappy Hill Marine props brand new and every blade was a different shape and thickness.Snowman8 wrote: Sun Sep 26, 2021 5:27 pmWow, I never would have guessed that. So I would send them to Bblades here in Wisconsin.

Re: ‘19 R5 Vibration
I’m wondering if a motor mount settled or something causing the out of balance to be noticeable? Unless I did “hit” something??

Thanks BB. Do you mind me asking what they charged you to balance and rebuild your props?Big Block Power wrote: Sun Sep 26, 2021 5:56 pmThe prop of course doesn't have to show damage to be out of balance.
