I bought 2020 R5 but need trailer…best place to find one??

It will be really tough to find one quickly but what are your needs and how will it be used? Just for winter storage or will it be towed a lot? Do you do salt water or fresh water boating? You will get a ton of different answers but also have an R5 and I have a Loadmaster trailer that are custom built in Port Clinton Ohio. They are probably the best built, best towing, and toughest trailers out there. I had an EZ Loader trailer and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone! Like I said they are custom built and the options are endless but I don’t know what their order time is. The people at Loadmaster are GREAT to work with also, they actually answer the phone in person! Lol! A few members on here have them. If you have the time to wait they are probably the best built trailers out there. Highly recommend by me! If you look under the powerboat tab on their website you will find a picture of my boat & trailer and also a picture of Tuscany’s trailer & boat who is another member of Cobaltchat. His is the navy blue R7. I owe my build to him as mine is pretty similar to his in a different color. And no I am not a paid representative!

Yes, like s8 mentioned Loadmaster seems to be popular, customizable, and well built. The first question any boat trailer manufacturer will ask is ..saltwater or freshwater? That will help narrow down some manufacturers. Where do you live?

I agree with Snowman. It was him and Tuscany that recommend Loadmaster. I built a trailer very similar to Snowman and sounds like he did the same to Tuscany. If you can get one built before you need the boat, do it. I also would highly recommend them.

Seriously, it is true. All C channel structural steel, with 10 cross members. Basically a lifetime trailer with zero flex. Totally custom and they will build in whatever add-ons you want. EOH, custom LEDs, whatever you can think of..
IMO, Loadmaster for fresh water, Myco for salt.

If I was buying a new trailer, It would be a C-Channel for sure.

And I love EOH disc brakes. That's what I use on my trailer.

It’s fine for most applications, I would probably never have an issue, but I have this OCD thing. I also research way too much for my own good.
With the amount of cross members Loadmaster uses, We could probably carry a Bradley fighting vehicle on our trailer. LOL.

Yes it is slightly lighter that the Abrams! By a few tonsBut it's top speed is 10mph faster than the Abrams

But you guys don't give any pricing!?!?! How much did you guys pay for your trailers? All the extras sound great, and your trailers look awesome, but I am most interested in best bang for the buck.

Overkill can easily be overpaid. It's a boat trailer.

I have an R6 on the way, and dealer options were Boatmate or Phoenix. I went with a Boatmate for $7400 instead of a Phoenix because the Phoenix was $1500 more.

I paid just under what you paid for your Boatmate. You get what you pay for. What are your axels rated for? My Loadmaster would haul my R5 with an R4 on top and not be overloaded. Most trailers are at max capacity or close with just the weight of the boat loaded for a day on the water. Add a couple coolers with ice and lemonade and you are at capacity. Things will break when they are always maxed out. A great boat trailer is only a few percent of the total cost of a Cobalt. A boat trailer is just a boat trailer until something breaks and leaves your $200 thousand dollar boat sitting on the side of the road. It will cost way more than $1500 to get your boat and trailer off the road and repaired. Not to mention if you are on a trip, your entire trip is ruined.. A cheap trailer is more expensive in the long run, ask me how I know. If you live in the lower Michigan you aren’t very far from where Loadmaster is built. Call or email them and they will get you a price within a day or two I bet.
