Soonerfan wrote: Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:48 am Wow, beautiful! Can't wait to read the review and see more pics. On a side not Cobalt seems to be all over the place with production dates. I was originally told December, then told they could move it to October, then I can a call saying it would be April, then out of the blue last night I got a call saying it was going into production today and that I can't make any changes unless I want to cancel the order and start over with the 8% surcharge. Per my dealer this was all according to Cobalt.
Being on the manufactures side I can attest to some of the inconsistent dates. We were good for most of this pandemic as we carry more than a normal supply load - being a private company and general nature of our products and a maintained pretty normal lead time. But now that our supply has ran low major items for example our engines which our vendor has had on order and we made our existing order larger well in advance, have as of literally today vaporized, they are not going to make it. Prior to todays email everything was OK albeit delayed. Smaller items like 12 pin connectors we have been buying off Ebay since last summer. We are now fully seeing what Cobalt went thru last spring. As for our price discounts our vendors are now giving us a take it or leave it price, not to mention raw materials we purchase have tripled.

We ordered ours at the end of July and it was into a build slot for for October. It changed to the first of December and now it’s moved to February.
I believe it may be delayed due to the fact that it’s a highly optioned R6 surf which increases the probability of not having all the pieces of the puzzle.

I believe BRP is referring to it as a "Logistics Fee".

From what our bottle suppliers have told us, it is about to be an industry wide issue. Truckers are billing extra for hold ups for screening, Covid testing, and general grief experienced at the present time.

Everybody is creating extra profit because no one seems to cares what it costs..for now. Interest is cheap..
We’ve raised prices again at our business ..why not, the bleak inflation numbers the network news pushes are running GREAT cover for everyone in business and of course costs are rising. 22 bucks for two Big Mac meals? 20 dollar raw strip steaks? LOL.

I think we are just getting started with the turbulence.

So true. I'm guessing the press will be running full tilt once more, and shortly... once the whining starts.
February? That may be when the "victims" will need to heat at 80 degrees and need ahi tuna steaks for dinner.

Well the dealer dropped the "prices went up from the manufacturer," and wants more money. He says he just found out about it. I called him out on it asking why he waited till my boat shows up when he could have told me months ago when everyone else found out. No doubt he waits till my boat is sitting there in the hope I'll just write him a check and move along. For now I told him I'll have to think about. I'm very tempted to tell him to stick it.

One more interesting bit of information he told me is that Cobalt did in fact raise the same 8%, but credited back something like 6% since my deal was already signed. However, if I back out of the deal, the 6% goes back on the price of the boat if they sell to someone else.

I built a R30 it has a small surcharge on it. It's right on the build your boat screen. No hiding it.

At least you know that surcharge right up front. I signed a contract for a deal in September 2021 and now almost 6 months later the dealer comes back and says that deal is no longer valid and is open for renegotiation.

I realize this topic has already be worn out, but just letting others know that even if you didn't hear from your dealer yet on your already agreed to deal, there is at least one dealer that waited until I was ready to take possession and throwing it out there.

Yes and the crazy thing is there is so much mark up on these boats the dealer really could absorb the 2% yes I get it supply and demand. Yes I'm sure they could resell it. But don't get greedy high gas prices are coming and this market is going to crash hard and soon. That's my 2 cents. The high margin ride will end soon for the dealer.

It would be a hard NO from me on that deal.

Do you still have your old boat?

I do have my old boat and planned on keeping it for now. It's a pontoon that I'll probably let the kids take out. I'm gonna call the dealer back next week and discuss it further.
