Unavailable Part from Volvo

Post by BHD »

Happy Thanksgiving All-
I have a 2021 R6 Surf with the VP 380. My boat has been in the Singleton Marine shop for nearly 3 months waiting on a part from Volvo. Anyone know of a source for it?
The part number is 22642634, POWER TRAIN CONTROL UNIT

Thanks I’m advance for any help.

Sorry but I really don't think you will get anyone with it as a spare. It's got a chip in it and I'm sure extras are not available.
You will only be able to get it with the engine number and a dealer. Volvo watches every ecu with the tightest security. Because we want to make it into a 430 ecu!
Sorry.
You would Prob be better off buying a used engine assembly that includes the harness and engine and ecu. But it's over 10k

Thanks for the response. It appears I am going to just have to wait it out.

I just got $550 trading my old iPhone 6 because of chip shortage.
They say they can use the chips for other manufacturing shortages.
If I remember correctly, I paid in the $600ish range when I bought it maybe 7 years ago.

They don't reuse those chips. Way to difficult to remove/reuse and they are out of date. They sell the phones to third world countries.

They gave you $550 because they could sell you a new phone.

Thanks for the info. I have one on order and just waiting to see if it ships. I find it interesting and a little frustrating that they (Cobalt and my local dealer) continue to fill orders, take new orders and sell boats but can’t replace a faulty unit on a boat that was less than 6 months old when it went into the shop.

They are using all the parts they can get to build units not to fix them! We have been waiting on a shock since last March,

Dealership informed me that after 3 months, Volvo has decided to ship one from Germany. Luckily I was able to cancel my order because the part hadn’t shipped yet. Dealer is still stating I won’t get my bait back until early January. Hopefully all the things asides will be behind me.
