R8 Head Unit

My R8S is being delivered next week. Does anyone know what head unit and model # the newer R8S's with platinum sound are being shipped with? My local dealer can't even find out for sure until it arrives. I have seen the Rockford Fosgate's on the early deliveries but lately is seems to be either an Infinity or a Fusion?

Mine came with Fusion. It’s a 2022 with platinum sound and was delivered a few weeks ago. We are going tomorrow to pick it up!

Thanks, congratulations, and that is what mine came with. Mine was delivered yesterday and I am picking it up this afternoon. I ordered the platinum sounds without the tower speakers as I wanted to add Rev 10's instead of the roswell tower speakers. The head unit appears to be a Fusion 670 which irritates me when paying for the platinum sound as for around $300 more they could have installed the 770 which is 4 zones vs 3 and also has a larger screen that is also a touch screen. So, if I stick with the factory unit I think I have to tie my transom speakers to the tower speakers and they would be controlled together. When I pick it up this afternoon I am taking it by my stereo shop to talk options about getting a 4 zone receiver. The other issue is the space as I like the way it is recessed and there is not a whole lot of room for a larger head unit.

That is irritating. Some guy at Malibu trying to save a buck i’m sure. Do you know how to change the setting on the surf screen? Instead of being able to select a gps speed for surfing mine says set RPM’s. I’ve been trying to mess with it but can’t seem to figure out how to change it.

For a boat approaching 300k and getting the top of the line stereo package you surely would hope you would get the top of the line equipment from at least the product line they're offering. Otherwise they need to list out everything you're getting. Can you imagine paying 8k for platinum stereo and seeing a $100 Alpine head unit in there? C'mon Cobalt!

Again your getting a stereo a engineer is putting in your boat. If you really want to get a stereo for what you pay go to a step shop and get more and spend less my 2 cents. Or 1 peso.

I have not messed with it much but I think it showed mph on mine when I looked at the surf screen. I will take a closer look and check mine.

I have not messed with it much but I think it showed mph on mine when I looked at the surf screen. I will take a closer look and check mine.

Thanks buddy, I figured it out. on surf screen go to menu, select speed source, and select MPH, just took a minute. Should have posted it though in case anyone else had the same thing.

I would agree if you are getting the basic package. However, when you spend for the platinum I would expect a little better. That being said I am very happy to see that Cobalt is integrating the radio, RGB lighting, surf controls, and Zero off into the glass screens. I think this is a nice upgrade over my 2018 that everything was manual. The stereo controls are nice so that I can control the zones and subs so much easier than through the Fosgate unit on my old one. Also, have the SC controls for the underwater lights and interior is nice as you can customize them to what you want instead of just turning the knob. So there is some long needed improvement in that area.

Yes slowly but surely they are fixing things. The wiring is finally done right. I think they finally hired someone from radio shack
