Quite honestly, the R6 itself is fine. It's the other crap they slap on it like the SoftTrac mats that are the issue. Additionally this is why we have warranties.Krob1114 wrote: Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:54 amI once bought a used Nissan Armada to pull our boat one season. It was the first year they made the Armada, I think 2004. It had so many minor but annoying problems that I can't remember them all. A lot had to do with electrical: lights, windshield washer, windows, gas sending unit, and so on.boydster2 wrote: Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:16 pm Dealer re-glued, and it looks as good as new. Hoping it stays that way. The soft-trac came with the boat as new, so it wasn't dealer installed but rather factory installed.
I think when the season wraps I'll write a longer post about my experience with the R6 surf. I love the boat and the wave is way better than my friend's 2019 R5 surf (IMHO), but lots of little problems through the year. Hoping all the kinks are worked out now.
Future Armadas did not have the same problems.
Hopefully, Cobalt will improve the R6.

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
I am on my third try (through the dealer) to get the Sof-Trac mat to adhere to the swim platform. Appears to be shrinking and pulling up at the edge? The latest time it lifted the boat had only been lake tested by the dealer (for other issues) and one small boat ride by me and then put on the lift.
Curious to hear if others are having repeat issues?
Thanks

I'm working with my dealer on the mat issue. Interestingly, it is only the forward 5 sections that are problematic. Everything aft and the swim platform are fine.

Odd the one piece is separating between the two different colors. Never saw that before. The other one coming up in the corners sure has a bunch of dirt in it. How's it getting so dirty? I guess my garage must be pretty clean

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Greetings,
Turned the boat over to the dealer for Sof-Trac repair. Picked-up the boat only to find two sections already failing! It is clearly heat related as two more panels began failing as I cleaned the boat in the sun prior to dry stacking.
I know I'm not the only guy in South Florida with a Cobalt. Waiting to hear from the dealer as to Cobalt's answer.

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
That sucks!!! At this point can they remove the soft trac and do snap in seagrass or snap in soft track? Obviously trying to repair it isn’t working.

Man, that's really frustrating. Possible manufacturer defect?
Are they offering an alternative product such as Seadek?

Yea that sucks. Never saw or heard of that. Did you Google that issue to see if it pops up anywhere ender on the internet?
Yea time for a change on that one. Worse we saw was the adhesive not holding to the deck.

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to be diplomatic & work through the dealer who has been fantastic. It is a pain in the butt, though, as I keep the boat dry stacked, have to get the trailer & pull the boat out each time....kind of defeats the dry stack game plan!
I'll keep the site posted as to my progress.

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
In my experience when dealing with a larger warranty issue, I’ve had much better luck calling cobalt directly. My dealer is great! But, sometimes by calling cobalt directly I’ve been able to expedite things.

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Sorry to hear of the issues. My boat does not have the soft trac or Seadek as I have Seagrass. I asked my dealer about installing it on the swim platform and they highly advised not doing it as they had so many issues like this.
On a side note, does anyone have large dogs that have the Softtrac/Seadek type material? I was a boat show and there was a company (I don't remember the manufacturer) who told me that dog nails wouldn't hurt it. I took their small business card size sample and shredded it with my thumbnail in front of them and asked how it would hold up to a 65lb dog jumping off or climbing on. They looked me in the eye and said "no issues".
I guess for $300 for a swim platform you can't expect too much. LOL

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
We have it on our swim platform and my 65lb Australian Shepherd's claws do scuff it up. However it's not destroying the pad. You can definitely see scuffs and claw marks but only up close. We do try to make an effort to not have her climb up on the pad. She'll hop on the swim step then either my wife or I will spot her as she jumps in. Not a big issue at all. I'm happy we have it. Especially for the young kids to have extra traction.sailor55330 wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:12 am Sorry to hear of the issues. My boat does not have the soft trac or Seadek as I have Seagrass. Just to add to that, we have had it on everyone of our swim platforms and we have never had an issue over 10 years. We trailer our boat all over so it’s really nice not to have to worry about carpet blowing out.

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
That's good to hear. I'm thinking it's not for me. My dogs tear the heck out of oak floors with their claws if they get excited, so I'm thinking a soft trac type mat has no chance.VTENGR wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 4:04 pmWe have it on our swim platform and my 65lb Australian Shepherd's claws do scuff it up.
