Soundbar vs. Tower Speakers

Post by nlmajors »

Looking to add a soundbar or tower speakers on my Bimini top frame. Not looking too throw sound to anyone skiing or wakeboarding just get some sound to the swim platform and people hanging out and swimming behind the boat. It's my music not everyone else on the lake should be forced to listen to it with me. Picture is of my Bimini top and frame. Looking to put it in the center as far back as possible. Thoughts?

If all you're looking for is swim platform and rear of boat, why not add transom speakers instead of towers? Everything I've heard of towers is that to get to the volume where the rear ppl can hear it good, you're drowning out the ppl in the cabin.

I'd love to have transom speakers but no clue where they could go. The only possible place would be above the swim platform and I think they would get washed out constantly

Zone control will prevent that problem. You can keep the towers turned up and lower the rest of the boat zones.

I don't know if they're easier? Someone just needs to step onto your swim platform with a screw gun and zip out 12 screws.

Towers they need to board the boat. Get something to stand on. Find the right size allen wrench. Then back out all 4 screws held in with loctite.

Now price.... THAT is the big difference.

Towers starting around $700

Transom mounted around $300

Hey OP, have you considered a waterproof blue tooth speaker? It looks like you could just open your storage hatch and rest it in there.

New Idea. I've ordered some pods that look similar to this. My whole goal was to get music to the swim area without blasting people inside the boat. Tower speakers are going to blast everyone. I figure I can pull these out and hook them up when needed and when not put them back in the aft center storage. I intend to put some 6.5" JL's in there. Just wondering about the quick connect setup this owner used. I ran across this on another site but not much beyond just the pictures. Any thoughts?
