1995 252 Sun Pad Removal help

Post by sming250r »

In the next couple of weeks I'm hoping to go remove the sun pad to be reupholstered. Since I'm an hour away I was wondering if there was anything specific I was needing to remove it or if standard hand tools would be all I needed to get it off of there?

Mine has large phillips head screws holding it on. #3 bit might be too small, so a #4 bit might be best. Most likely going to be some type of corrosion bonding the screws as well. So bring an impact driver and some PB blaster penetrating oil. Generally I like to use heat, but not suggested with flammables around a boat.

I actually tried to remove mine, and a 1/4" Milwaukee impact screw gun didn't even budge 1 of them. A hand held hammer type impact will most likely be better. But then again, the previous owner owner did a lot of hack work on the boat. They may have used red loctite for all I know.

Hopefully yours comes out easy, but if it's like mine, prob going to require some work.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully they’ll come right out of there 🤞🏻
