R5 2019 no ignition can not trim up

Post by domdomfielding »

Got my R5 out of storage today and went to raise trim for travel. ( I store boat trimmed down for winter no power in storage) turned battery switch on and ignition to on. My garmin displays do not come on. No ignition. Nothing. All other accessories are working. Radio, blower, led interior lights horn bilge pump. Anyone ever had this happen? I checked all fuses also battery switch. I even put my 2 bass boat battery's that are fully charged and nothing? I have checked everything i know of.
Please help will call dealer tomorrow.

Main circuit breaker probably popped in the engine bay. Look for a red button with a 50 on it.

Yes, check this. I had it happen on my 18 R7S and it was a breaker in the engine bay.

I am back up with my cobalt today. Can you tell me where the main fuse is? I don't see a red button with a 50 amp?

Check maybe by the trim pump? On your boat I'm not sure exactly where it is without looking around and being on it.

Maybe on the breaker panel under the port bench seat where the sky pylon and fire extinguisher are. #5 is labeled Engine but 20 amps

I'm guessing 8 and 9 are for the stereo. But check 1,2,3

# 8 is an amp I added and #9 is for the windlass. If all the breakers are set I would verify that the battery switch is okay.

Hey guys. I’m re-opening this old thread. Same exact issue. Engine will trim down but will not trim up. Went to start and it beeped at me and said crank override active “trim too high”. Trim is down but it won’t let me trim it back up. Looks like the sensor is off bc it bounces around on the gauge cluster. Any tips or tricks to reset? Thanks!

Just had exactly same symptoms last week. Trim gauge on glass dash display bouncing around unable to trim from helm but was able to get the drive down from stern control. Replaced trim sending unit and fixed.

That's what sucks about Volvo..if you have a faulty trim sender, it won't let you trim up. First thing I would do is bypass that function so you can always get your trim ip. The reason it is in there is for idiots that might trim up too much while the engine is running.
