Great boat! We just got our r8 surf and have just been out adjusting and playing around with the wave ourselves. So the faster you go the longer the wave gets, with a given PTA number (trim angle).
So three factors, ballast, PTA, speed. think of ballast and PTA as a way to affect the height of the wave and speed as a way to lengthen/shorten the wave. We found that going from 10.8 mph to 11.5 mph lengthens the wave a lot.
PTA and speed are the easiest to change as the ballast tanks take a while to fill/empty. Hope that helps!
Coming from an R7 Surf the wave is much larger and easier to adjust with the new interface. We also noticed that the trim angle isn’t near as high on the new surf model as the old.

Thanks that helps. What kind of range of PTA are you using. I was in the negative numbers to flatten a bit. Didn’t try over 11 mph. Those R8’s are nice!

So we are doing 3-7. I read this article with the pro surfer that demonstrated the boats and he uses three at 11.3 mph

I noticed that as you raise the trim the PTA number goes from white to red at I think 10 degrees so I’d probably stay in the single digits where the number is white… I’m thinking when it turns red that indicates something, red usually means bad ha ha. Also this video by cobalt was helpful for us as well.

Looks awesome, congrats! I haven't had time to play around with the surf system wave (been too dang windy lately) but I'm sure others here can offer advice. Perhaps try different bilge amounts? I'd guess fully loading the tanks will make a steeper wave but I'm a noob and eager to hear what more experienced Surf boaters have to say.Rplong2 wrote: Sun Apr 17, 2022 9:57 am I enjoyed your post JL02. Beautiful boat, I’m sure you’ll enjoy. We also just took delivery, of a 2022 R6 Surf at Possum Kingdom. This forum has been and continues to be super helpful. From the time we got a confirmed build date to delivery was about 7 weeks. The build date was confirmed about 4 months after the order was placed. Our boat is a R6 Surf, VP 380 HP, rotating sunshade, 10” screens, platinum sound (worth it), with trim tabs, power helm seat and many optional upgrades. I would love any advice on building a good surf wave. Out of the box the wave is steep, I’d like to elongate it and make a little less steep. Any advice?
