ISO 1998 Cobalt 233 bucket seat (or seats)
Well,
My wifey sat down on the fold down lumbar part of the passenger bucket seat in our 1998 Cobalt 233 and it broke. So... I'm in search of a seat, or a pair of seats to replace it. If anyone knows of some that are for sale, or if some different year seats would fit without drilling new holes in the floor, I'd greatly appreciate any input. Our boat is the cream/maroon color and the seats are cream and tan.
I'll take some pics to see if any of you think it can be repaired.
Thanks!

I'm thinking it's too old of a model but speedruler made seat bases to fix some seats. Pictures.

your seats look to be in good shape otherwise. try these

I doubt you will be able to find replacements and if you do I would put money that they have cracked bases also.

In case anybody stumbles upon this thread, Sliderule Racing Products now has repair kits for the early generation (1989-2001) flip up bolster seats:

That is a nice solution to an annoying problem.
Are you able to do anything with the motorized telescoping anchor light to improve its reliability and durability? It was called the Powerlight and was made by Innovative Lighting.

Re: ISO 1998 Cobalt 233 bucket seat (or seats)
I have one and have thoughts about what I might be able to do to offer replacement parts with them but havent done anything yet. Frankly it's a clever design but just not robust. I have ideas on how to make a brand new auto-retracting stern light that's significantly more durable, but the tooling costs would be really high and I'm just not sure there's much of a market for a super expensive retracting stern light these days. I invested in a few new products last year that really haven't sold well despite a bunch of people telling me that they were really interested in the product.. so I'm a little gun shy now for new products.. especially one that requires so many tooled parts.

I fear you are correct. I thought these were on the expensive side when Innovative Lighting was making them, so I don’t see much of a market for a $400 or $500 motorized anchor light.
My guess is that Innovative Lighting started with an off-the-shelf motorized antenna made for cars, and then added the light at the end for marine use.
I have a lathe and small cnc mill at home, so I might take a run at trying to ruggedize this thing for my own use. Any hints or ideas you would like to share?

Re: ISO 1998 Cobalt 233 bucket seat (or seats)
The stuff that is fragile aren't things you can make on a CNC mill and manual lathe (at least I personally wouldn't have the patience for it). The telescoping poles are obviously weak points that you won't be able to make on your own. The other part that makes this more than just a power antenna is that the 'mast' is actually a plastic mast with the molded rack gears into it and 2 conductors molded internally. That plastic can get fragile and crack and then the very small conductor wires are susceptible to breaking. Some of the other parts, like the motor 'brush plates' are pretty easy to fix/fab at home, but the other ones are not so easy.

Thanks for the insights into the inherent issues on the Powerlight. It is such a shame. When working, this anchor light never fails to delight.
