1996 Cobalt 190,

Post by sneakypete »

Hello from Kelowna, British Columbia.

I spent many hours enjoying power boating thru my childhood in the 70's and 80's but eventually switched over to the sailing community until recently.
I happened to find this girl sitting neglected in the back corner of a work shop nearby, and after some negotiating became the new owner of a 1996 cobalt 190...and a power boating enthusiast again :P Although she was filthy she had good bones and her engine was strong. So we poured in some elbow grease and cleaning hours, threw in some new carpets and had her out on the lake where she belonged for the summer of 2021. Even though the summer was filled with wildfires and scorching heat domes we had some great times on the lake and are eagerly waiting to get out there again for summer 2022. This year we are going to be replacing all the little things that make a boat look her age...window moulding trim, missing emblem, faded speaker grill ect ect...

Really glad to be part of the forum and getting to see all these beautiful boats, great stories and projects.

Looking nice and glad you're getting her back in the water. The 5.7 in that size boat is a blast.

Oh she moves alright . Everyone hold your drinks because she leaps out of the hole pretty hard. I was reading just shy of 60mph which I think is pretty decent because compared to all the plastic boats out there she feels pretty heavy and solid.
