My Annual 250 Project

Every year I pick 1 or 2 'major' upgrades that I try to execute on my 250BR. Started making some progress on this year's experiment over the weekend. I started with some 'go anywhere' type of seats... disassembled them and started modifying to my needs. In the end, I decided that the multi position latching they offer is probably not super necessary and ended up welding the mechanism to limit range of opening slightly. I also cut in in half and widened it. In the end, I should have just started with raw tubing and machined my own hinge pieces - it would have been simpler... se la vie.

And while it is not at all beyond me to cut up perfectly good seats for experiments like this, these are actually sunpad cushions from a 250BR that had been in a fire that I bought specifically for this experimentation. Will keep this thread updated when I get the upholstery done. I sold my Consew walking foot machine a few years ago, so I'm going to farm that part out.

Standard sunpad cushions for all of the mid-2000's Cobalt center walk-thru boats look something like this (sorry for the blatant product placement, it was the most recent picture I had in my phone with the sunpads).

My project is converting the sunpad cushsons to having built-in rear facing flip-up back rests.

I think I saw this post on facebook, but wasn't sure what was going on there. This makes much more sense.

When you get done, let's work on my sunpad to do something similar!
