Ya he's a pretty cool guy, unfortunately he's moving along and passing things down to his kids which are also good people. That X-19 was his childhood race boat.

I'll chime in on this thread after finally having things worth sharing.. Finally got her to the lake. This year's upgrades are cup holders, a Garmin Echomap 94, a higher pitched prop (Mirage Plus 23p), new duracell/deka battery, and LED bulbs wherever I could get them.

We moved her to a new slip on the north side of the lake, with a lift purchased from the previous occupier of said slip. I got up there at sunrise, to launch her in line with the fisherpeople. It was very nice to get her back in. After last year's prop strike/lower end replacement, knowing the exact depth was VERY neat. +1 Echomap

I found our new slip and got things situated.. unfortunately I'm pushing the limits of the lift and I know it - it's a 6k# unit, and it does well getting the hull out of the water, but dry weight is like 4950 and right now she's got at least 70 gallons of fuel on board.. and she's got a big heavy ass. I'm hoping burning off 300 pounds of fuel will make me feel better about how she sits. I did spend some time wandering the dock to see (and found) other similar weights/lifts setups, so I'm not alone.. I just don't have the budget for a monster lift for my 24 year old boat (grumble: child care, student loans, housing, food, life, etc).

When we bought the boat it had a 4 blade Michigan Wheel prop on it, 14"x22p and I felt that it wasn't really maximizing what we can do. The manual gave the part number for a mirage plus 23p, so I bought a used one in the fall and cleaned it up (insert joke about being caught by the admiral in the garage "polishing my prop"). It didn't come with plugs... I didn't fully understand... holy snotballs - I abandoned my efforts at a test run worried I'd have to paddle back. Without the plugs it vented so badly I thought I had spun the hub - atleast that's my working hypothesis. I now have the plugs on order - I also have a new hub insert coming just in case. Changing the prop made idle speed feel much more reasonable. With any luck, I can pop those plugs in and get to burning off some of the extra fuel without any additional work.

Additional thoughts in no particular order: My ropes could be neater, I know. I'll do better next time. The lillypad is nice for the kids (I like it too..) but it's obnoxiously large - on a funday, I leave it on the swimdeck, strapped to the rail. I'm still miffed about the trim issue from a couple years ago necessitating that cut-out in the back. Last year was the first year in a slip and she spent the whole season in the water, cleaning the underside was a chore and I got like half of it off. Watch me work: h5RtKnkobdY

Let us know if installing the plugs works. They are for boats with through prop exhaust. It helps get the exhaust out of the prop. Yes it's more scientific than that. personally never felt any diff with them in or out. So I don't think you will but hey I can be wrong once?
Not sure why people let that green cleaner sit on the hull all winter. It never comes off easier after 6 more months of sitting.

Good point. I’ve been over here obsessing about getting the plugs here in time for this weekend. I completely forgot about the captain’s call. That’d be a good way to test it.. if I can get the damn thing to work when it warms up.

Some site seeing. I will say I have no desire to return to NYC or NJ probably ever. To each their own.

Did see a 76’ Riva. Damn fine looking boat IMO.

Up at the lake for some spring cleaning and tree removal. It’s a late spring here with the trees still greening up. I’ll likely put the R5 in on Thursday, right now the boat lifts look strange empty.

Night and day change. It took some effort/fold down swim deck boat yoga getting them into the prop (and a few taps with a duct-tape padded hammer), but they're definitely needed. Had an issue ordering them from PartsVu, but then found them locally when I had a surprise extra couple hours to get the issue taken care of. Lesson learned: Don't use partsvu for anything time sensitive.

Unfortunately the weather around here this weekend made going out and burning some fuel a non-starter.. and I get to work next weekend (which is fine)...

Maybe next weekend Bum. The long range shows 80’s for next weekend! 55 degrees and windy this weekend just isn’t very nice boating weather..
I got the batteries hooked up & vacuumed the dead bugs out of the boat today so I’m ready if the weather would cooperate.

Yep it was 40º on Sunday morning at the lake. Next weekend is forecasted to be around 80º but I’ll be in San Diego for my oldest daughters college graduation ceremonies so I’ll have to wait another 10 days to get out on the lake. I love this time of year with the entire summer in front of us!!

Very busy on the lake this past weekend. Perfect temperature as well.

The big news is the new marina and launch ramp open this weekend on the south side of Lake Havasu City. Only the ramp and toll booth are completed so far. It should relieve some congestion from the other ramps, I hope. We won't be using it as it is farther from our house and our existing AZ State Park pass won't work there. An annual pass will be $400.00, or $40.00 per weekend day, so quite a bit more expensive than the other state parks.
