I'm looking at a 2012 Cobalt 200. Has the 4.3 Volvo V-6. Boat in great condition, but worried about power. Going to use mostly as a runabout. Probably pull a tube or a skier. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Power
Torque is king on the water, I'd go for a v8 especially if you plan to pull a skiier. Resale will be better with a v8 as well. All that said, I understand the current v6 from VP is quite good. Good luck in your search.

Hey AAWB. So glad you found us.
The 4.3 is a reliable and venerable GM block that won’t let you down. We cut our teeth on that engine. She’ll do everything that you’re asking for in your post.
That being said, you’ll eventually want the torque of an eight cylinder down the road. In the meantime enjoy!
And welcome aboard mate!

Re: Power
I assume it has a single prop at that size, but it should be ok for your intended uses. I bought a 210 with the 5.7L V8 and duo prop, and it's definitely more torque than the boat needs. With the price of gas, you might be happy you have the V6!
Can you arrange a test outing, and maybe bring a tube and rider with? That will answer your question definitively.

Is this the 240 model. Ones on here have had no regrets.

Re: Power
I would think that would be fine for that boat. Also, if you are boating near areas with fuel and aren't going to be out all day, you can always go out with less than a full fuel load to save weight and that will help performance. That being said, I would fill up for the first few outings to check the fuel gauge and fuel burn.
