Engine compartment insulation

Post by nlmajors »

The insulation in the engine compartment is starting to disintegrate. Anyone ever replace this? More hassle than it's worth?

Dynamite or an equivalent is great to keep panels from vibrating, but won’t absorb sound that’s reflecting around in an enclosed space. I’ve used a foam over a material like Sonic Barrier (Dynamat substitute): https://www.parts-express.com/car-audio ... nd-damping

With either plain foam on top or a combination material like https://www.parts-express.com/Sonic-Bar ... 24-260-530

If I wanted to use the Link’s of materials you listed, which part is on the fiberglass and which piece is the one on top? I kinda assume the aluminum is the outer on top piece.
