Great looking boat! If I come across away to get some room I’ll share, I sent you a PM, if you find something I’d be interested as well, I’m only 6’2” and it bugs the crap out of me the way my knees brush up against it.

Ok I found a solution sort of ;) . It only buys you like 1.5 inches, but that was enough for my 6’2”. I though I’d post for others around my height that have the same issue. The other caveat is that you have to have the electric seat.

I got looking at mine and I saw that there is a pipe around the bar under the seat that prevents the slide from going all the way back. It looks like PVC pipe but it’s not. Any way I went to the Home Depot and purchased some 3/4 inch pvc pipe and cut it to 1/4’ in length. Took the seat apart and swapped that out and it works great. I thought about just letting it go all the way back with no stop or “pipe” on the rod but I thought it’d be a good idea to leave a little on there to stop it from going too far back.

Pic’s attached. I know this probably wont be enough to help you moc611 but here it is for anyone else.

You have to take the seat off two or three of the bolts are a pain because of how they are positioned.

Very cool dsthomas! I haven't been down to the boat, but will next weekend. I found a garelick seat slide that has 7" of travel, so that might be an answer for me. When I get down to the boat, I will look to see if there is a similar solution to the manual slider as you found with the electric. Happy Easter!

Hey guys, just stumbled on this thread. Based on the photos above, I could probably come up with replacement plate mount that shifts the entire seat back a few inches. Would need some measurements to be sure. Post some pics of the non-electric seat for me 611 so I can see the differences.. I will say, the molded seat pan looks an awful lot like the units from 2005-2017+. Wonder if they reinforced the top better for the bolster attachments?

I have an R8 with manual seat looks like yours may be the same. If you look under the seat there was a small bolt middle front part of seat base, that actually stops the seat from moving all the way back. My boat the guides have back stops in the track. Therefore if you remove that bolt it will slide back few more inches. When the seat further back it will not rotate far. but at least you will more leg room. Hope this helps

Is the R8 seat design different from the R7 -- I have a 2021 R7 and would like an extra 1-2 inches of seat travel if possible.

To be clear, I can't change the amount of travel, but I could probably come up with an adapter plate that shifts it all back a little bit. I'll need someone to send me some pictures of the seat hardware mounting plate. If it's the same mounting pattern as the garelick design used for the models I'm familiar with then i have all the dimensions I need.

Congrats on the R8. Do you love it? Interested in any more on the leg room issue.
I’m 6’2” usually up on the helm bolster but would like the option to sit. We’re negotiating on a R8
now. Share are the pros and cons must have/ don’t need options? Looking at the 2x200
Merc OB. Since these are the entry level twins, is
this sufficient power to get underway with a typical load of 4 -6 people and 1/2 tank of fuel for example? Appreciate any thoughts.
