2023 R8 S questions

Post by HotSpringsHog »

Hello Gents and Ladies, I’ve owned a 2017 cobalt R3 surf for 4 years but I’m ready to upgrade and go big or go home… so I’m looking at the R8 surf. My dealer is out of orders for 2022 and so I will need to place a 2023 order. Anyone have any idea if there are any changes to the 2023 versus the 2022?

Thanks for all of the posts and info you all post!

Some one posted that 2023 will have Karmen harden speakers. Wave wise your gonna really be impressed coming from an R3, we had an R7 Surf and the wave is night and day diffrence on the R8S.

I’m glad the wave is much better. I almost pulled the trigger on a Mastercraft X24 but our lake is very choppy with a ton of Boat Traffic, so the ride of the Cobalt is a big advantage. And as long as the wave is a 7 out of 10, I will be happy.

MC has Harmon kardon speakers I believe?

We have a '22 R8 Surf. The wave is incredible and the ride in chop is great. Also opted for the platinum sound, which is very crisp, clear and 100% worth it. Enjoy!

I have a friend with a master craft x23 that I learned to surf on and initial why we sold our last boat to get a surf boat. We even went down to table rock and tested an x24 on the water. We didn’t like how it handled even at high speeds and it road very nose up, we also felt like we were right on the water all the time (too low to the water if that makes sense). Master craft makes a great boat, it just wasn’t for us. The wave on our R8S is every bit as good as the x23 I learned to surf with. We love the extra room we get, we love being able to get up on plane with full ballast, we love how deep the boat is, my wife likes how well it handles, she’s totally comfortable at the helm, she also didn’t want to give up the transom walkthrough, over all our favorite boat yet!
