I was hoping someone can help me out, or at least point me in the right direction as to where I can find information…
This will be the first time I’ve changed brakes on [any] trailer and I’m having trouble trying to figure out what size the drum brakes are on my trailer for my 1997 200…
The last 2 trips to the lake I’ve started noticing a brake smell getting stronger and I’m thinking that it’s getting to that time where they need replacing. I know I could just open them up and measure, but being that brakes have never been my strong suit, I’m afraid I’ll open a proverbial can of worms and I just wanted to make sure I have all the correct info before I order/buy everything.
Thank you.

Re: Trailer drum brake size?
Mike - I don't think anyone can tell you drum pads size w/o a trailer make and model unless they live in a trailer shop. Are drums still good and can they be turned to remove scoring? Replacement drums available and brake parts (springs) available? Cost? Getting the drums off is another story because the brake is scored into the drum.
Myself I would do some research and get rid of the brakes for a more modern disc brake and braking hydraulic System. Even in CA where the weather may be beautiful 90% of the year, the worms are very prevalent in a 25 year old trailer...easier to remove and install then to remove and repair. Good luck
