Can you imagine standing on your head all day working in some of the tight spaces they have to work?

No!

I watch marine tech, Chad, form himself into a pretzel as he installs various pieces and checks parts in and around the engine. I think he should be a member of Cirque de Solei with how he bends.

While testing the engine today, I finally got a chance to see if the depth sounder works since filling the reservoir with propylene glycol.

No more flashing!
Works like a champ. Yay!!

Consider this problem solved. 👍👍👍

Ok unless I'm losing me mind. My depth guage had worked perfectly this year. So yesterday it read the depth not sure it was accurate but it would read then flash the depth then read and so on. It never just stayed on solid. Not sure why. From what I believe it always stayed on solid like the water temp guage. At 61 degrees yesterday.lol

I have the above Depth Sounder Instrument gauge (incidentally I added a link to the manual for that model in the tech manuals sub-forum) - haven't been able to do diagnostics yet, (boat is on my buoy) but my display was flashing today (not all the time but occasionally) accompanied by the depth reading being all over the place.
Back in shallower water (20'-ish) it was stable again and reading consistently
Would that instrument use the type of transducer that uses the glycol mix? From the description earlier in the thread (the flashing display) it would certainly sound consistent with that.

Not sure about mine. Looks to be different than those who are filling with antifreeze. It appears that I don’t even have a cap to unscrew. Maybe someone here can give me some advice to what I have.

No you have a actual thru hull transducer. It's solid. The bad thing with those is some are mounted right where the hull contacts the trailer bunks.

Thank you for that clarification.Looks like I should be good to go by just replacing the gauge.

We had the same gauge on our first boat. Had to replace it somewhere around 8-10 years old.
I had the mechanic at our marina do it. That was before I became a Youtube.com certified mechanic.

That is the Faria SN2060A. I have a similar question going in the 10 Series thread.
