From Chaparral to Cobalt!!

Post by Bang »

We just upgraded from a 2002 Chaparral 230 SSI to a 2014 Cobalt R5 with only 53 hours! She’s got a Merc 350 MAG engine and a tower with bimini, which was a must, the chap didn’t have a tower. I’m super excited to get her in the water this spring. The dealer really sold me on Cobalt and said it’s WAY above Chaparral! We really liked our Chaparral, but wanted something a little newer. Glad I found this forum, already reading lots of great information! :D

Same color combo as our 2017 R5. Ours had 112 hours when we bought it.

We never use them.

We just wake surf on some of our friend's Nautiques and Mastercrafts.

Nice boat - I have a 2014 R5 that is the opposite color combination - two of my favorite colors. I came from a SeaRay, have had several SeaRays and always liked them, but the Cobalt's really are in a different league. Hard to describe the differences until you have owned another brand.

Welcome and beautiful boat. 12 years newer, 3 feet bigger and better quality.

I'm not usually one for one-upmanship, but: we upgraded from a 2005 Caravelle BR185 to a 2019 R3 brand new.
Chaparral would be an upgrade from a Caravelle. 13 years newer, 5 feet bigger, and far greater quality.

If I could have found your boat then, I'd have bought it instead. Welcome again and use this site.

Welcome! Love the color and you won’t be disappointed in making the switch. We’ve had ours since it was new in 2018 and couldn’t be happier.
