Trailer button for drives

Post by Oldsride »

Hello I just purchased a 2001 293 cobalt and I have a question about raising my drives up on the trailer. Where is the trailer button? They went down with switch on the throttle but can't seem to raise them up. I tried using the toggles on the side by the fire extinguisher but I get nothing.
Please help?

Hey Or…so glad you found us.

What brand engine and drive do you own? On our Volvo Penta the trailer switch was incorporated into the trim switch on the throttle.
On our Merc it is tucked under the throttle handle. Both types are rocker switches.

We also have the transom drive tilt switch near the swim platform.

Any pics of your 293?

And welcome aboard mate!

Hello
My boat has twin Mercrusier 6.2 with bravo three drives. The controls are like in a offshore with the two throttle and two shifter levers. The trim button for both drives is on the one throttle lever. The two rocker switches are by the fire extinguisher.

Those larger toggle switches on the side are normally for trim tabs; not the drive.

When you say the drives will not raise...are you saying they only go down but not up?
Or
They raise but not high enough?

The trim tab buttons on my boat are up by the dash.
Yes the drives only go down with the button on the throttle.
They can still go down more and I'm assuming that when they go down far enough they will go up until the limit switch stops them.
Than the trailer button function should work? Where ever it is.
Or do I have a blown breaker or something that is not allowing it?

Both of them only go down but not up using the throttle rocker switch? That's not normal at all. Could be a bad relay on your trim pump. These can go bad. Or it could be your trim sender needs adjustment. See quick vid below...

I figured my trim switch problem. It was one of the pins in the wiring harness not making contact.
Thanks for all your help.
