keyless switch on 2022 30SC?

We just purchased a 2022 30SC and it has a keyless switch (with a separate FOB) that has a "Power button" and then HAS two start buttons for both motors directly under it. I have been receiving error codes for the port motor and lack of steering on some startups so took it back to a mechanic and they believe it's due to me turning off the remote battery switches before turning off the "Power Button". I'm not really sure but may have been doing that because I didn't think about it needing to be powered down first. Does anyone know if that would cause an issue?
