Hello, we recently purchased a used 2022 30SC and our home port is out of Ft Myers Beach. We owned a Cobalt I/O when we lived on a lake and appreciated the quality so much that went back to the brand after owning a 27’ Sailfish for a few years here in Florida. I was concerned how the 30 SC would perform in the Gulf since it isn’t really an offshore hull design with deep V and flared bow. I can’t really say that we have had her in anything 2ft+ waves so far but I have been impressed how she rides. I’m really amazed at how little bow rise occurs when coming up on plane and how firm she handles the waves so far. It’s apparent to me that Cobalt built this hull design with outboards in mind vs just slapping a couple of outboard motors on a lake boat. I don’t know what to expect in rougher seas but anticipate a potentially wet ride if we take her the Keys or get caught out in a storm, however we must accept that every boat has its pluses and minuses and the Cobalt fit and finish is better than any offshore boat in the market.
The nice thing is that it’s a unique boat in the gulf and I haven’t seen any other than ours so it’s a head turner, however the negative is that there is no local community to share experiences about our boat. Most of our friends who have an open bow like ours have Sea Rays 310 SLX OB. They’re certainly nice boats but I wouldn’t trade them for a Cobalt…..most people in Florida just don’t recognize the Cobalt brand and think Sea Ray is top of the line.
Anyway, just wanted to make that introduction. If anyone else has a 30SC and wants to share their opinion and experiences, please let me know.

Congrats On a great choice. I have a 25sc that I use around the same area. IMO I would buy another when the time comes.

Hey CaptJim! Congratulations on your new 30SC, it sounds like a fantastic addition to your boating adventures. It's great to hear that you're already impressed with how she handles on the water. The fact that the bow rise is minimal and the ride is firm speaks volumes about the quality of Cobalt's design. While you may anticipate a potentially wet ride in rougher seas, staying prepared with proper gear and knowing your boat's capabilities will go a long way. Embracing both the positives and negatives of any vessel is key, and the uniqueness of your Cobalt in the Gulf is a definite plus. As for the community aspect, while local groups may be limited, sharing experiences online with fellow 30SC owners or enthusiasts can
